Sheesh. It's obvious he' s not making it, why doesn't he just come out and say so? Personally, I'm glad he hasn't made it; I don't think he can do it justice. (I hate Avatar.)

Can we all just get over this? It's not like any living anime fan even gives a damn about Battle Angel.
IMO it's not something he has even seems as interested/serious about. It's always like, "Oh yeah I read that. I'd be cool if I could make it into a movie."
Guillermo Del Torro was the one who even showed it to him. You have a better chance of him making it into a film and would probably be better.

When you're James Cameron, it doesn't matter. Don't forget, Avatar was also a pet project.
As for the news: meh, not like I care. I'm the only person on earth who hasn't seen, or bought, Avatar.
In the meantime, I'm still waiting to see who plays Faye in the upcoming Cowboy Bebop movie.

Avatar 2: White People Are Still Awful (brought to you by whiteman inc.)
Avatar 3: The Audience are Cattle

Geez, it's not like Battle Angel is hundred years old or anything...not that would even matter since age won't rob it of its quality.

Yeah, seriously Cameron, hand the rights over to someone else. If the Avatar universe is going to be the rest of your life's work, let somebody with more time on their hands take over Battle Angel Alita.
Oh, and please go with the original ending, not Last Order. If I have to endure one more second of the ZOTT, I think I will scream.

You guys sound like whining babies. Can otaku maybe try not to be so much like Comic Book Guy for once?
And he wrote the first draft for Avatar in 1990. I'm going to take a wild guess and say he still makes the film. It also seems he will shoot these two sequels back to back, so it won't take up as much of his time as it seems.

As for the news, I'm not surprised, considering the success behind Avatar.. but at this rate, even if Cameron was to start on it after Avatar 3, the earliest we could even see it would be around 2018. Giving it'll take him 3-4 years to complete the two Avatar sequels. I don't know about you guys, but by that time, I wonder if i'll be too old to even care

Cameron, despite being an arrogant bastard (ask Ed Harris about filming the Abyss for a lesson in Cameron's not-so-nice nature) but he is also a damn genius.
Does he let his personal politics and philosophies interfere with that genius? Oh, yeah, you betcha. It doesn't change the fact that he's extraordinarily talented at film-making.
Part of his pysche is a need for control and working on more Avatar will be both highly profitable for him and something he can control on a level he could never achieve while adapting something.
Really, I'm only surprised that anyone would find this news surprising. We'll see a live-action Battle Angel right around the time the live-action EVA comes out.
