A few weeks ago it was kind of a busy week for me and I didn't watch any anime at all for a week. I thought I was gonna LOSE MY MIND!
![]() Just was curious to know has anyone ever felt this way? How long can you go without watching anime? |

A week at most. It's not that I NEED to, it's just a habit. There are times when I just don't want to watch anything because all the anime I'm watching are at a very boring point.

I'm with kimbeey13 on this one. I've gone close to half a year not watching any anime since I've really gotten into it. That was mostly due to work and trying to keep some semblance of a social life. There are also periods where I won't watch anime for a month or so at a time, simply because I'm preoccupied with other things in my life. Back when I was younger I used to sit down and watch anime for hours on end too, but the time just isn't there anymore. I'm lucky if I can get a couple episodes in per week.

For me, anime is just another entertainment option if I'm not going out and want to relax. At home, I'll usually kick back and waste some time on videogames, or movies, or anime, or a book depending on my mood.
I will say though that once I start watching a series, I want to see it through as soon as possible, regardless of the quality of the show. I'm the same with books and DVDs, too (not so much with viddy games, as I like sprawling epics such as Oblivion and Mass Effect). So I guess my answer is: Normally: Not really bothered. Started watching a series: A day or so. |

Months. Well I can live without it so idk...
Anyhow w/ me Im guessing its because I have unlimited access to it. Meaning, I can watch it whenever I want. idk, its like once I have something I start not to care for it anymore. |

Since becoming an animeniac in January 2009, it has been a rare day that I have watched at least one episode of something. Probably the longest I've gone was just recently when I was at a cottage for a week that had no internet access or DVD player (not that I would have brought any of my DVDs with me even if it had, mind you). I went four straight days without seeing any anime and on the fifth day we visited some friends and stayed over at their house. I had my work laptop with me and was able to stream some stuff.
But to answer the OP question - I could probably go two weeks without watching any anime if I had to, but I'm sure I'd be jonesing pretty bad by the end of it. |

About 20 minutes. Then I get the jitters. If I go for more than an hour without Anime everyones eyes start getting big and their hair color starts changing as my fevered brain desperately searches for it's fix. I once tried to go cold turkey but I ended up a jibbering heap in my bedroom and was dragged into rehab simpering "it's over 9000!". I carry a special watch that displays a random moe girl spouting some kind of catchprase like Kuwaiiiii or Waiii Waiii. Just in case I start experiencing symptoms in a crowded area. Incidentally gundam83 you're avatar is giving me flashbacks of the rehab centre that's what my reflection looked like to me
![]() No seriously though I probably watch once every 2/3 days max. |

Um...lol...about two months?
To me, it's just entertainment. Isn't a life necessity. |

I can go for long periods of time. I have plenty of other entertainment options and hobbies that can tide me over. Having a variety of things to do can cushion the want to see things right then and now.

well animation in general is somthing i would have to have at least once a week, but I could go without anime quite awhile if i had some good U.S. toons to watch. I'd say probably a month.
(Animation & Comics, my dru..er i mean anti-drug. lol.) |

For me it depends on how things are going on in my real life. If things are really stressful an anime series is a decent escape and conveniently broken up into episodes that don't take too much time. I have alternatives to that -- either Sci Fi novels or classics -- so if I am reading one of those I will go a long time without turning on the DVD player.
If it ever becomes a "must have" instead of a "want to have" then I would shut it off permanently. |

Quite a while. I have 226 various non-anime related movies and series on DVD I could re-watch and 47 unread novels and manga lying around. Right now college is taking over to so I have that in addition to work which doesn't leave much time for it anyway.

However long I need to. As has been pointed out it's just entertainment. Sure it's fun entertainment and highly enjoyable but still just entertainment. If anyone seriously couldn't go a few days or a week or so without it or they get seriously upset then I'd say they need to see a shrink or something. Probably go outside and do things with real people as well. Ya know, have a life outside the tv/computer.
