Unless its Haruhi season 3 or Lucky star season 2 I don't care that much. I do care just very little. KyoAni does make good anime after all.

This is cool. I just wish they'd throw this open to fans outside of japan too, then we could really influence some better stuff getting made.
Justin or Zack, do you guys have any details on if this is for japan only?

...Is that a purple hippo I see? *squints*
I'd love to see more Munto or FMP from KyoAni, but I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Seems anyone can vote. Just click on the image you want and then on the bottom there is a "Vote" button which asks for any comments.

It's actually a cat according to the production notes. A dog, a rabbit, a cat and a bear.

I miss when KyoAni was good and not just making asexual female slice-of-life comedies.

These ^
Munto had amazing potential as a fantasy genre, but they kinda just skipped over it by still not making a full ending/leaving it way open. They did do such a great job on what did get made for the series, it just kills me that they would ignore this genre for more K-ON predecessors. I know thats whats selling so thats what they'll make, but I can still be sad about it. Maybe they can use the money earned from this stuff to go back to the fantasy genre in the future. *hopes*

If they do, they may be doing it without Aya Hirano -- sounds like she's trying to make a break from voice acting and go into live TV instead.

Its going to suck if she stops voice acting. She is still VAing but just small roles.

Eh, I'll only vote when I see something a little more traditionally moé.
If KyoAni wanted to make an original anime that totally rips-off Minami-ke, I'd be all over that like flies on rice.

I watched the tv version of Munto about a year ago and I have to say that the new stuff they put out was pretty bad, although the scribbles they had up here didn't look much more interesting.

Right .........but before you do that crap, how about more Full Metal Panic first, Kyoto Animation. That I actually want to see. If not, then more Haruhi as a consolation prize at least. What's that saying about too many eggs in one basket again?

I would love for them to just HAVE Minami-ke.
I think there's more that can be done with this series. I was willing to watch the 2 Asread versions, but surely KyoAni would do a better job than Asread.

Insert my usual spiel about how if there's going to be more FMP it's going to be from some other studio that Kadokawa does a deal with. I would have imagined people would clue into Kyoani's full embracing of their status as a moe icon about 3 projects ago, but then I suppose people see what they want to see and still hold onto hope borne of nothing. Let me try this then....do they honestly look like a mecha show producing studio to anyone? Did they ever?
Kadokawa Publishing has a business relationship with the Namco Bandai family which is all about mecha so there's still hope there I would think. Certainly far moreso than Kyoani at the moment I would say.
Also I called it months ago and have just been waiting on the announcement. I said when Kyoani does another show it's going to be about 4 girls (the magic number) just like K-On/Lucky Star etc. and well that's kind of what it looks like they are going with along with a weird sort of furry fetish twist....the logic of which I'm not quite following. Taking a few cues from Strike Witches perhaps? I would not be the slightest bit surprised if this Kyoani Sisters show goes through all the usual stock slice of life comedy episodic story lines either. I envision happy fans in Japan and a lot of unhappy people everywhere else.
Lastly I am curious to see how much of this original production stuff gets chosen by the fans though. Kyoani has and still continues to strike me as a studio whose success owes a lot to catering directly to their devoted fanbases desires (almost singlehandedly redefining what is thought of as a "safe" project in the process) while being extra careful to not break pattern and expectations so it would not surprise me to see a fair bit of it left up to the fans.
Edit: Oh and those scribbles are what are known of as a pitch in the entertainment industry. The idea is to submit a rough idea of a concept to potential producers and brainstorm on whether it can be worked into a profitable project. Character sketches, rough summaries of plot and personalities for the characters are common among early pitches. The thing is usually nobody other than executives, head writers and artists see anything of the early pitches and by the time they leave the boardroom committee and enter production they may barely resemble what they looked like originally.
