Might wanna go ahead and Spoiler that. Just an Idea.

I'd have to say Paradise Kiss. I Love the ending, love more than I could ever say, but...spoiler[I wanted Joji to stay! Or Yukari to go, either way.] That's the selfish anime fan in me...

You can also click on the "Edit" button, right top-corner of your post and add spoiler tags to hide the spoilers. Like this:
Code:
[spoiler]bla bla bla[/spoiler]

As for me, I could probably list nearly 150 endings, but let's not. Keeping in mind that, "the way I wanted" and "disliked" are different things.

I'm going to throw out Seirei no Moribito - while I absolutely loved the show and thought it was extremely well written, paced, directed, designed, and pretty much everything else, the last episode was such a letdown emotionally. Yeah, I know that what happened in the end was what was best for everyone, and it just showed how far everyone had come over the course of the story, but...dammit, I wanted to see spoiler[Chagum run off with Balsa for more wayside adventures Anime cry]

Also, Oh! Edo Rocket should have ended differently. spoiler[Why the heck did they move the row to the moon? It would have had much more emotional impact if Sora had decided to stay with her friends on earth - the moonfolk weren't really set up in such a way as to make the audience sympathetic toward her for wanting to go back to them.]

Finally, I kind of wanted Macross Frontier to end with Sheryl's horrible, preferably fiery and painful death (and possibly Alto's as well, but mostly Sheryl), but I entertained very little hope of that actually happening.

Chrono Crusade didn't end how I wanted it at all. First of all, I didn't mind that Chrono and Rosette spoiler[died at the end because it always seems cliche when there's a couple goes on to live happily ever after ending. In fact, when they did die together, it was just so beautiful and sad that it was one of the few times that an anime brought me to tears. ]

If they would've left the ending like that, I would've been fine but the bad guy (name is not coming back to me right now) spoiler[ends up living in the end, the same guy Chrono and Rosette fought almost to death to destroy just broke my heart.] That's why whenever I watch that anime, I stop watching with a few minutes left to go in the last episode...the VERY VERY end was just unnecessary and practically ruined what SHOULD have been the actual end.

Toradora comes to mind right away just because I just finished it. spoiler[I didn't like how they spent the whole series exploring the romantic tension b/t Taiga and Ryuuji, despite the other being interested in someone else, and when they finally have their moment of happiness, Taiga for whatever reason decides she needs to leave. It felt like everything that happened in the whole show from the first episode was just wasted. ]

I'm also going to say Kampfer, because underneath all that transgender softcore lesbian porn was a hint of an intriguing story, spoiler[ which was completely scrapped for more transgender softcore lesbian porn, but this time with the Endtrails Animals.] lame.

I am going to say Toradora! as well, but for different reasons. You see, spoiler[I expected Taiga to fall for Ryuuji the second the show started, so that was no surprise. It was actually Minori's selfless action of "giving" him to her that surprised me. Not that I didn't like that. In a romance show, you've gotta except that the characters you like aren't going to end up together.

However, what really made me go, huh? was their marriage. Everything in the show was going well, annnddd then they're getting married. Jumping the gun quick? Ya rly. I felt like that was just thrown in as a rebellion against their parents, and not really thought through or something. I would have preferred it if they just started dating and then Taiga left to go deal with her parents and other personal problems, then came back at the end of the show. Just like what happened. ]

Either way, I'm just glad the show didn't pull the old "You decide with your miinnddddd" as to who ends up with who, leaving no conclusion after the last episode.

That's true, the ending was pretty complete and resolute, and while Taiga and Ryuuji being together would be the obvious choice, spoiler[it was also the romantic tension with Minori and Ami (the single most interesting character in the entire show), that still left me thinking "well... maybe not," especially considering how Ami's character grows and changes through the show. In the end, she understands what's going on better than anyone, and her feelings for Ryuuji are more genuine and credible, next to Taiga's.]

Oh, and some half-assed spahgetti special wasn't enough to quell my feelings of disappointment. Though it was amusing.
spoiler[
And they never married, they both said they weren't ready, but they were sort of playing at it.]

Ehh? Eve spoiler[didn't turn into the ship. She was used to control it as well as having her nanotechnology used to grab people and cocoon them. Otherwise, how else could Train have pulled her out?]

On topic, two shows which really blew my mind (negatively) because they didn't end they way I "wanted":
Trinity Blood - The entire series gets built on the relationship between Cain and Abel spoiler[and to what? Absolutely nothing! I can understand the ongoing clash, but the least they could have done was give us a fight scene! Oh good grief!]

Ergo Proxy - Here's a stellar science fiction setting which builds slowly and methodically only to spoiler[come to the most worthless conclusion which basically states the obvious: Vincent must accept who he is.] Regardless, I'd watch it again despite its ending.

Witch Hunter Robin. The ending came from left field. I was looking at spoiler[a cropped scene which promptly zoomed out then it somehow got stuck at mid-zoom, which left me wondering if I got a bad copy. Turns out to be the ending already.]

Well, in Wolf's rain and Final Fantasy: Unlimited I wish they would have had just one more episode just to see what happens after the ending.

Although I don't insist on a "happy" ending, I'm not a big fan of ambiguous endings that look like the writers just couldn't make up their minds. Or worse, where they seem to be just flipping off their viewers: "ha ha made ya look." Gantz comes to mind. I'm surprised this thread hasn't brought it up already.

i haven't seen Gantz yet... but then again i haven't seen a lot of shows thus the reason for knowing what people think about the endings of the shows they've seen. but then again you must have liked the show to get all the way to the end... i hate how you watch all the episodes for the end to just disappoint you because it didn't end the way you wanted it to.
