The second half of the first episode doesn't seem to be playing. I just get two Dante's Inferno ads in a row and then it skips to the next episode preview.

0079 is still of bigger importance, considering its one TV run was cut short. Not to mention, everything from CE except for Stargazer (needs licensing badly) is pure crap.
But I guess this one appeals to the kids who like flashy tripe. It's also a shame that we'll never get a release like a certain group did for the movies, remastered with the Japanese original dub, a remixed Japanese dub, and the old English dub. That's some dedication. What's up next after Zeta, SEED/Destiny and 0079? |

Damn. Never saw SEED. I've never seen a fanbase so broken up about it either - it's purely love it or hate it.
What do you guys think? S'it worth the time? |

Nothing at the moment. However we're hoping Bandai can clear some more Gundam streaming rights. (For older shows, it's a terrible process of going back through every old talent contract for the show -- cast AND crew -- and sometimes renegotiating online royalties for every one of them.) |

Seed is decent. It has some good characters and some fun moments. It's not my favorite and I don't think it's as good as the MSG movies, also the sheer amount of stock footage annoyed me. It's a shame it was followed up by Seed Destiny which is just awful, in my opinion. Unfortunately, watching Seed Destiny has kind of ruined my initial liking of Seed. |

I feel the same way, and will be watching that first. I encourage everyone to go watch the original first. |

It really doesn't have Zeta Gundam's tendency to be really goofy ("I AM A MAN!"), and it's dark without being "Oh my god the Director just got dumped someone get him away from the writing table". It also doesn't mess up the point it's trying to make by being idealistic to the point of absurdity like Gundam 00. The entire World is just going to wake up one day and realize the best course of action is to unite? Has he seen Congress? Also it has Mu La Flaga, and he is awesomeness distilled into the form of a man. |

So I've never seen any of the Gundam series before, would this one be too confusing to understand or would I be fine?

SEED is very much a reimagining of the original series, touching on several modern day issues with plenty of melodrama. It takes place in a different continuity than the main Gundam universe, and should be very approachable for the Gundam neophyte.

It's the start of a completely new universe so you should be fine.

I found SEED to be a bland, passionless endeavor. It's like Sunrise just went, "Well, looks like we need to do a new Gundam series" and that was it. I honestly did not buy any of the messages or emotions being conveyed in it. It didn't help that everything looked unnatural and plastic in the show, thanks to Hirai's character designs. It was a forgettable show.
Now, the original series being streamed, that's a good thing, even if it's dub-only. Ocean produced a pretty good dub of the show, though they're obviously hamming it up on purpose to suit the aged animation. It works, though. The original performances were a little hammy, too. Brad Swaile is a great Amuro Ray. Michael Kopsa is an excellent Char Aznable. And yes, Ryu's jumping onto White Base. Raarragh. |

I just finished 0079. I enjoyed it. greatly.
Now I'm wondering where to go. Suggestions? --I know I'm late to the game at this point so I'm hoping you will take pity upon me. I'm a girl who loves mecha, and still learning... |
