Still going for perfection this late? That's impressive. Of course my vote goes to Section 9. They are the perfect team and were always destined to win this tournament.

Which makes one think this entire tourney was completely redundant if one team steamrolls through their competition without any opposition. And no, I'm not gonna vote. I won't add more fuel to the steamroller nor will I support the flawed punching bag. |

Chalk up another vote for Section 9. I don't think there's anything that I can add that hasn't already been said.
To be perfectly honest, I was expecting this entire tournament to come down to a showdown between Section 9 and Science Ninja Team Gatchaman. |

So was I. Anyway, just to be contrary, I'm voting for MITHRIL. Section 9 is better, but MITHRIL is too strong an organization to go down so ignominiously, and I think many who are trash-talking them right now aren't giving them due credit. Anyway, I want to get to bed a little early tonight, and it's clear this is the least-contested Finals we have ever had, so I'm calling it now. Best Team/Organization Tournament is now closed. And the winner, with something like a 16-1 margin. . . Thanks to everyone who participated, and special thanks to ccdx (for the video clips) and Dorcas_Aurelia (for running the minigame! Due to being gone this upcoming weekend, some other things I have to be working on, and general burn-out (I was, for the first time, losing interest in the tournament over the final 3-4 weeks), there will at the very least be a two week break before anything goes up about the next tournament - and possibly longer. Start considering ideas you might want to see run, and feel free to discuss possibilities here until an official thread goes up for it. Also, please consider two questions: 1. Given anime you've seen since the tournament field was set back in August, is there any team that you think would have been represented and/or done well here had they been eligible in time? 2. Given anime you've seen since the tournament voting started, would you reconsider any of your pasts votes were we to run this exact same tournament again? |

Since I happen to be on...
1. Can't comment. I wasn't there for it. I'll just say I've overall been pleased with the representation of teams. I don't think I'd add anything to the current list. 2. No. S9 was my favored team, so any vote outside of a round including them was inconsequential to me. However, perhaps I would have emphasized the Straw Hat Pirate's good points a bit more since I feel they were a bit marginalized. Beyond that, I'm perfectly happy with the way things turned out. |

1. I haven't watched any new anime yet (mostly because I honestly haven't watched any anime period in a while) but as I repeatedly said, Section 9's performance really reminded me that I should see GitS at some point, possibly soon (though I have a lot of North American series to watch first).

Well, despite Key's vote I will always consider this finale to be completely unanimous. Heck, Key even admitted that Section 9 was better.
I think for me, the biggest problem with the tournament was that I was familiar with so few entries that I couldn't get excited about it. Another problem was how Section 9 seemed to be a foregone conclusion. Well, that was the vibe I got early on, and so it made me wonder why I should bother participating. A third problem was the weakness of the C and D brackets. I know that isn't Key's fault, as he was going off the preliminary votes, but it was a problem nonetheless. Lastly, for all of Key's comment that some people were "trash-talking" MITHRIL, I think it is obvious that it was NOT a candidate worthy of being in the final round. |

1. Possibly the guild from Fairy Tail, they would have been an interesting early-round pick, but I doubt they would have gone far.
2. The only matchup I can think of that probably should have gone different, is after watching Cross Game up to episode 30 something, I think that the prefab group was a bit over-hyped early on in my opinion (although it is an entertaining series). They really were only a minor part of the overall story, and several of the members (mostly the senior class) never seemed to mesh all that well with the rest of the team. I actually think the team dynamic improved with the additions to the team after the "prefab" arc. Either way I doubt Squad 11 would have advanced much farther than the second round (even taking into account that some members are willing to give up their very lives in order to stay in that team). 3. The final matchup in the tournament would have been a bit more interesting had groups C & D been as strong as A & B in my opinion. The Strawhats did seem to give Section 9 more of a run than anyone else (and rightfully so), so the final outcome really was decided last round. But I do agree that MITHRIL probably does deserve more credit than this round seems to have given them. |

Since we seem to be discussing possible ways to improve, I have one that I have been thinking of. I also felt a bit less interested in this tournament during the last rounds which make me wonder if perhaps it isn't a bit too long?
I know it's always hard to narrow down the list of contestants but I do wonder if removing a round might help things stay exciting and also weed out some of the weaker entries before things even get started (we always seem to end up with a couple who get in despite being questionable). Plus having less teams to start with would reduce the number of contestants people have to remember information about if they haven't seen the series of origin. Just a thought. |

I believe someone suggested that we make the third round two weeks long instead of four weeks, by amalgamating A and B together, and C and D together. Two weeks doesn't sound like a big reduction in length, however it is ten percent and so nothing to sneeze at.
These tournaments do feel long, but this one felt particularly long. I think we are all fatigued. Perhaps instead of two weeks or a month we should break until June or July. |

1. What's aired since then? Someone said the Fairy Tail Guild, and I suppose they're better than a couple of the also-rans we had, but they're pretty much the Straw Hat Pirates-lite. Other than them, I can't think of any prominent groups in recent anime. I know I'd been thinking a little about Team Basquash or Eclipse (Also from Basquash), but that was pretty much done by then anyway. 2. I would have voted for the Velka-..., oh wait, I did anyway. However, I think if I had seen Nanoha at the time, I might have tried to make a case during nominations for Section 6 and the Numbers from Nanoha StrikerS instead of the Velka Knights and STA. Not that I think it would have made any difference in retrospect, as Gatchaman would have still trounced one in the first round, and even if the other had managed to swing a vote or two against the British Library, the Straw Hats would have ended them in the second round. On another note, the odd thing about people suggesting that we speed up the later rounds is that while in previous tournaments we saw participation dip below the trend in the fourth round, in this one we saw a slight dip in the third round and then an upswing in the fourth, with the drop at the end again due to Section 9's overwhelming dominance. |

1 - I had more than a few, but forgot all of them.
2 - I think I would have said a few things about Section 9 much earlier. I sincerely didn't think people would be so loyal to their minigame, therefore simply blindly voting for Section 9 most of the times without considering the other team's strengths. And I unfortunately will have to agree with Ggultra2764 on this one and say that I'm utterly disappointed with the outcome; not because the team I believed to be worthy lost, but because it went down without a fight, with 10 users discussing back against one or two. Perhaps an Organization tournament requires much more thinking than people wanted to give, including me, unlike a simple "Best Hero". I also strongly disagree with statements saying that Section 9 is perfect. Overall the tournament was fun, otherwise I wouldn't be here. My apologies in case I offended anyone at the beginning of the tournament. Thanks to Key and ccdx for setting up the tournament and the videos and to Moon Phase's avatar guy who set-up the minigame(next time I'll take this seriously ). 1. I'd have likely chosen the girl's baseball team fromTaisho Baseball Girls. Their chemistry and teamwork in improving their skills in the sport, as well as standing up to the sexism of the 1920s made them a decent team that could have been around for a round or two.
2. After seeing the first half of Fantastic Children, I think I would have voted off the Befort Children in a more earlier round. Their chemistry wasn't as strong as I had heard it was given spoiler[two members of the team are gone by the start of the first episode ] and not making use of the full bonds in the team is a major flaw in my eyes. I still think folks overestimate Section 9 as I would have argued hard for their elimination starting with their Paper Sisters match considering the team's lack of development with all members and growth as a team. |

I'll take this opportunity to say why I think I lost interest in this tournament. 1) There weren't any teams that I cared about, or wanted to argue for. After the thing started, I thought that maybe I should have nominated Lupin's crew. At least I would have had fun with that one. Maybe even GTO's class 2(?), that might have been entertaining to argue. 2) Fatigue round after round of not knowing any of the contestants (over the course of this tournament and the last) finally took its toll. Maybe limiting the number of contestants is a good idea, like marie-antoinette said.
