Rather fleshy than non-fleshy, I'll say. Public holidays mean little to me at the moment, save the fact that my library commute takes longer, and my online backorders remain delayed for an additional day. Humbug. |

Oh man! Some stuff I'm envious of in the shelf obsessed! And by stuff I meant that single volume with Klonoa on the spine in the top left picture. I don't care if I can't read it, I want it! Also has Ape Escape 3, good stuff.
Ah yes, DBZ, I collected your boxsets until the 4th one, then I sold them off because, knowing you, you'll release yet another mega set for even cheaper. Although I think it's cool how these sets at least makes the complete logo on the rare chance that you display them without their slip cover things on. |

The reason why people dislike the ending is because the manga exists and continues. Were Claymore an original production, no one would bitch about anything, but it again falls into a long line of shows ruined by forcing a made up ending. I don't know how popular it is in Japan, but I doubt they'd continue with it.

Aw, maybe it's just me, but I ADORE Karin. I could watch it over and over. It's just so cute. The characters aren't "ugly" at all - I'm not sure why the reviewer thinks that!
There is also so much to enjoy with Karin - the manga (chibi vampire) takes on a totally different story from about volume 2/3 on), and the light novels are also a good time. It's (mostly) light-hearted, and it's so much fun! |

I like Karin too, I've seen 8-9 episodes and will pick up the show on DVD at some point when I can afford to import it (haven't got much money and the cost of importing from the u.s. has increased, what with the credit crunch/recession/financial 80s revival).

this is absolutely not true. I've seen many people, who don't know anything about the manga, who really, really disliked the anime ending a lot (way more than me who read the manga beforehand  ).
Well either way, we'll see and soon we can discuss everything openly (eventhough I almost forgot everything already, I'm completely over it and even bought the DVDs oO;; ). But for now, let's not get into this again ^^;; |

Given how directionless the manga has been lately, I'm about ready to give up and just accept the anime ending as the best that'll ever be. 
Meanwhile... Let's see, Ikkitousen is a series with a generic action plot, silly and melodramatic characters, whose only distinguishing feature is that it has all the female characters (especially the big busted ones) in a state of nearly constant undress - and a female reviewer at Anime News Network is actually recommending it?? Dear God, feminism really has been taken out and shot in the backyard, hasn't it? I have to say, just watching an AMV of this series (it was up for an award nomination) made me physically ill, I can't imagine having to watch the entire series. And did I mention it got a sequel? The awesome women in Claymore are crying. |

I just hope neither of you have a partner; that would be awkward. Yay for Claymore being Shelf Worthy. Too bad you didn't put Ikki Tousen as Perishable, but I suppose fanservice for fanservice's sake could be reason enough to watch it. It's not like there's any other reason. |

Uh, I'm a woman and I consider myself a feminist. While I have no interest in watching Ikkitousen myself, I would defend the right of other females to watch it. I believe women should have the same rights as men, including the right to watch whatever they want. I don't like people telling me what I should or should not be watching. I can decide for myself whether or not I find something offensive.

I remember having seen the first episode of Karin a year or two ago. It wasn't really anything outstanding in my mind, but when I read someone criticizing background art in an anime series this harshly as you do with these kind of arguments, I'm 90% sure the reviewer has been exposed to the watercolor/sketchy art style from staff of Kobayashi Pro or from the works of the master Kobayashi Shichirô himself, and voilà, a quick check of the ANN database confirms me that the background artists are indeed involved with his company. [man, I'm good ....  ]
Seriously though, the backgrounds from Kobayashi Pro are very distinct and give an anime more of an old-school cartoon feeling than a (photo-)realistic one. It's their style, take it or leave it. This style pops up in my mind when I think of truly memorable tv anime. I couldn't imagine how Utena, Berserk or Figure 17 would look like without these kind of sketchy watercolor backgounds for example. |

Ugh, government holidays. As someone who works at a restaurant, I absolutely loathe government holidays. It seems that on those days, the fussiest of people decide to come out, and they all come running into the restaurant at the same time, with their constant modifications to their orders. A curse on them!
However, I'd probably be singing a different tune if I was getting an extra paid day off. I'm just bitter. Definitely going to have to pick up Claymore, especially since it seems to be one of the last series that Funimation is releasing through singles, and I want to support the release of singles. The Funi thinpacks are too flimsy for me, dangit. I long for the olden days of nice sturdy high quality thinpacks. |
