I haven't been reading One Piece long- it started when I finished up the current episode of the time (390) and wanted to keep going with the series. As of now I'm on somewhere around 528-529.
For the general discussion on One Piece: I think the manga is great! I really like the character designs, the background, and the way the story is written and moves along. It's a long manga: 53 volumes total as of 3/4/09. Viz Media is releasing the manga in English, so feel free to pick it up. The purpose of this thread if for people who want to learn about the manga, talk about the problems in it or ask questions. Ranting is perfectly fine as long as it stays on topic. Spoilers are cool to, just label them and use the spoiler tags. I'm currently around chapter 528 or so and these are my thoughts: I love angst. So for me to spoiler[watch Luffy become so dejected and depressed after the lost of his crew thrilled me. I'm past the Amazon Arc....Luffy and Hancock just got to Impel Down. Luffy has already gotten into trouble (he was seen) and he and Buggy are running through the floor trying to get to Ace.] I am sad that spoiler[ Oda choose to separate the crew, now Luffy has run of in a completely different direction then what he was trying to do. However, I understand that he would go save Ace....but still. I wish they could have finished things on the Sabaody archipelago. ] There is no doubt in my mind that spoiler[Ace will be saved.] If he is not i'll probably eat my hat in both sadness and happiness... So what do you think? Are you happy with how things are going in the manga wherever you are? |

Added this thread to the discussion index in this forum. Personally I am excited to see what is going to happen withspoiler[ Luffy and Hancock as they head off to save Ace.] I don't read scans, but I have all 53 volumes that have been released so far. I can say that I have never grown tired of Oda being able to tie in a new story to the crew, even one so much as this one. It brings more variety I think to the manga in itself, because people will be ever more trying to hunt down the Straw Hat Crew.

Funny, I was gonna make a similar thread the other day, but never got around to it.
Anyway, I'm fully caught up (never thought I would be lol), and I'm loving everything that's going on so far. Luffy has quite a crazy group with him right now. And I wouldn't mind seeing spoiler[Bon Clay] join the Straw Hats  The way everything is building up there is gonna be a humongous showdown once they spoiler[get outside Impel Down].
spoiler[As for the rest of the Straw Hats, I think they're all gonna gain some new ability or move, because all the places they're in seem somehow related to them. Nami's in a weather place, Franky's in an industrial place, etc. The question is when they'll appear. Maybe at the climax of this arc, but somehow I think it'll take a bit longer. ] |

It's so vague that I don't think its a spoiler but for safety sakes. spoiler[ I hope that they come back as well. Maybe because they're on those islands they'll get stronger? ] |

I enjoy reading One Piece and watching One Piece as well. Needless to say, One Piece is one of my favorite shonen series currently.
spoiler[ I just wonder how Luffy is going to be able to break Ace out of jail, whilst escaping himself. But you have to admit, Luffy has come a long way since the first chapter. I know whatever method Luffy uses to save Ace, it will be exciting and intense.] As for the anime, for me personally, the only way to truly enjoy One Piece is to watch the series uncut, unedited and from Funimation. I really glad Netflix has the uncut version. The English audio much more hilarious, yet more interesting the regular edited version. |

Teriyaki Terrier- I made a thread for One Piece over in the anime forum if you want to talk about the anime. As long as you say which parts you're talking about you'll be good to go.
As for the more recent chapters where did everyone end up? spoiler[I can't remember where everyone ended up. I know Nami was on a weather island, Ussop on a bug island, Robin as a slave ad Chopper on a bird vs. man island and Brooke as Satan<--- LOL. But Franky, Zoro, and Sanji? I think Zoro ended up with the ghost girl..] thanks in advance. |

I think of how everybody has had to come a long way from when they first started. They all have matured along the way, considering that they've had 53 volumes to do so. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if any of the opponents that the crew faced earlier were to come around.

spoiler[Yea, Zoro ended up with the ghost girl. Sanji ended up on an island full of Okama, and they were all chasing him. That's a hilarious place for him. (Part of me is expecting Sanji to appear as an Okama  )
And Franky ended up in some industrial city full of machines and stuff].
spoiler[ They'd help Luffy escape from Impel Down! I love how Oda keeps bringing back things from long ago.] |

spoiler[Buggy appeared in Loguetown with his crew, but their appearances were rather short lived but it was rewarding with the new look of Lady Alvida. But I do know that Buggy then got himself caught and now he's in Impel Down as well.]

Let me start off by saying that Oda has quite the imagination.
The different types of levels in Impel down coupled with the guards and such is crazy. His characters are cool as well. Right now i'm on Chapter 542 (and trying desperatly to force myself not to read the next chapter) spoiler[I am super excited for more info on Dragon. To see one of his crew. I also am happy to see old characters- who i thought were dead. Its downright scary that Iva has that much power. The scene where she/he changed that guy into a chick was...well. I can't wait to see it in anime form. Iva is such a powerhouse. Btw the scene in chapter 535 page 11 where Luffy is laid out because of the poison was erie. The idea of Luffy's va having to scream so long when he is being healed makes me cringe. ] I can't put this down. |

I have suggestionon one piece's story... can you make luffy's father get his son luffy and trained to his fathers hide out... the straw hat crew still continuing their journey(even luffy is gone) and appoint a captain(temporarily)...and when the crew will face a strong enimy, luffy will appear!

No. Although technically, the vice versa of your idea is what is going on right now, with the crew all going on their own solo adventures, although we don't know if the crew will appear in Luffy's arc to save the day. Meanwhile as of chapter 551, spoiler[The time is soon at hand to see what sort of badasses we have been hyping for much of this series. What insane feat will Whitebeard really perform to save Ace? How will 5 of the 7 Warlords of the sea fair in this battle and will we finally see what Mihawk and Domflamingo are really made of? Does Ace have a chance with the three admirals standing directly over him and who could challenge 2 or maybe three powerful logia devil fruit users at the same time if it comes down to that? Will Sengoku show his own strength or let his subordinates have all the glory? Is Crocodile and Buggy's followers really going to head straight for Whitebeard, even though Jimbei is there to try to save him? So many questions and the sad fact that we probably won't even get half the answers to them before the NFL season kicks off.] But cutting directly to the point, One Piece is easily the best action/adventure mangas you can find today. |
