I'm noticing some inconsistency between last week and this week.

In last week's chart, it had 20th Century Boys debuting at number 8 with 15,195.
However, apparently this week it rose to number 3 from 5?
And this additional 22,238 makes the total 74,652?

Is this an error on Oricon or was something lost in translation?

The link on the front page for Koihime goes to the adult anime, not Koihime Muso, the TV series. I don't know if that's on purpous or not but it is a little misleading.

Well I've got three of these (Clannad, Kara no Kyoukai and Strike Witches). Whether I helped them get there or was just led like a sheep is hard to say. Pity Kannagi didn't make it.

Wow, it's true that no one buys anime in Japan. Seriously, just a couple thousand unit sold (and probably less, really) for the latest volumes of Naruto and One Piece?

Can't blame them with those prices, though...

I wonder how North American sales compare...

Pretty much.

Prime time anime revolves all around network ratings. Since those shows are geared toward younger, more mainstream audiences (most of whom don't buy DVDs), home video isn't the main focus.

With otaku anime, the audience is so small that producers aim to make money by selling high-priced product to the hardcore fans willing to pay for it.
