I've never given Del Rey a serious look at Del Rey, much less a look at their manga. I had purchased some of their paperback novels back when the original Star Wars trilogy was airing in theaters, most notably, the original novels based on the events that took place during Star Wars and Empire.
Are their releases on par with Dark Horse?

I'm not the type to read too many manga...
But hot ninja chicks? Lots of potential for panty and cleavage shots?
Can we say SOLD?

Interesting. Too bad Del Rey is not very creative in coming up with English titles for their manga.

I have most of their Genshiken books and they're very well done. Image quality is very good, and they have copious amounts of translation and cultural notes in the back, which I think is always a nice touch.

What gets me is that this sounds like a typical harem setup, 'cept unlike most harem stuff it seems like there's more actual, you know, action, and less snoretastic melodrama.

Dell Ray does good with their manga. You should take a more complete look at their manga offerings. They have all the top popular ones, like Negima, AirGear, Genshiken, School Rumble, Pumpkin Scissors, Le Chevalier d'Eon, Shugo Chara, Princess Resurrection, Tsubasa, xxxHolic, Gacha Gacha, Gundam, Nodame Cantabile, Hell Girl, and many many more.

For me, the best series Del Ray acquired was Genshiken. Until the 18th volume of Negima, I also enjoyed that series as well.
I don't know what happened to Del Ray, but most likely the company is just trying to get what sells. I can't blame them for trying to make a revenue, but I probably won't read/ continue a series for them for a while now.
Genshiken was the best series they had though, although the ending was nice, I'd still like more. Maybe if I ever get the chance, I'll go to a bookstore and read the artbook that was released this year.

Genshiken and Sugar Sugar Rune are great. I'm getting Suzuka since I like the anime. Top-notch production values. Translation quality varies; see the "Woo" and "Soul" mix-up for "Haux" and "Saule" in SSR.
