Wow....Emru was one of my favorite writers in the magazine, and I was saddened to hear that the transplant ultimately failed to send the cancer into remission.
Having lost someone close to me due to leukemia, I send my most heartfelt condolences to his friends and family. |

That sucks. This is just like when Mike Kleinhenz (Kalinin of FMP) died. I hope for the best for his family.

True Story:
Today I was finally getting around to cleaning up the box where I had dumped all my convention stuff from this summer. Amongst the post cards, program guides, business cards, book marks, and other paper con relics, I glimpsed a flyer or something that was asking for potential donors to step up and help Emru Townsend. I didn't dwell too much on it at the time, but just now I sat down at my comp, dialed up ANN and look! Emru Townsend has died. What a sad coincidence. My condolences to Mr. Townsend's family and friends. |

My condolences to his family, but also to those who felt truly attached to his work and dedication.
I met back in 2006 a women who was doing all she could to get Japan and Quebec together. When I learned that she had died of Cancer, I rushed to her funeral, as she had shown great dedication in her work. I only met her while being a volunteer at the Japanese Pavilion at Expo Quebec 2006, but she left a lasting presence. I don't recall reading something from Emru, but I looked at the links that were present and seeing all the things that he accomplished, he will certainly be missed by many. |

I've known about Emru and his works for years and even corresponded on the Net and newsgroups a few times (and even won some goodies off his contests, like Osamu Tezuka's Buddha manga) and publicized his annual fps charity auctions.
This animation proponent will be missed. |
