I'm just wondering how you go about choosing what titles you're going to write about for TT. Is it solely based upon release dates? Do you choose a group of titles based on publisher (or is ADV just a coincidence this week)? Because I'm surprised you didn't mention some titles like Forbidden Dance 4, Kare Kano 8, or Demon Diary 6. I'd like to hear what you thought of Alien Nine Emulators or Eerie Queerie 1... Wink

I think I may be the only person who doesn't think Azumanga Daioh is a buy-worthy manga. *lol*

The titles I look at each week are based on what is being released each week. This week the only titles being released came from ADV and Viz. Forbidden Dance 4 is coming out next week. And I wrote about Alien Nine Emulators in the first column for february.

Azumanga Daioh is a love it or hate it series. Obviously I enjoy it. Its a funny story with likable characters. It's a very simple story, and doesn't get too deep.

I noticed the same thing, Amazon.com has that as the same art as well for Last Order. However, IIRC that is the cover for the Battle Angel Alita (Original Series) re-release. I guess Viz must have messed up the cover art that they sent out.

Edit:
I did some checking and the covers are definitly messed up:
Battle Angel Alita, Vol. 3 : Killing Angel
Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, Vol. 3 : Angel Eternal

Ok, check this out. The rerelease I looked at for the first book of Alita/Gunnm ended short of where the original book ended.

What kind of rerelease is that? I mean there's a continuity issue to work with here. Each book starts at a different place and some have short or long expanses of time bewteen each book. There will be ten books at thisrate (unless perhaps if they cut out the final now defunct albeit hilarious ending in book 9 which last order replaces)

Curious indeed.

My understading is that Last Order is an alternate telling of the ending of the orginal Battle Angel Alita story line. The story in Last Order begins just before Alita wakes up in Tiphares in the orginal series.

Anime hyper Sure. Hot Gimmick is really the only other "plain" shoujo romance story I've really liked other then Hana Kimi and stuff like Paradise Kiss. I got to read parts of chapter 3 through scanlations, and all I had to say was "OMFG!!! Azusa!!" Anime hyper I love that manga.

Personal issues (some sort of injury) forced Kishiro to wrap Gunm up prematurely. So he wrote the last chapter of the original manga in order to end the series. Now that he is continuing the series as he originally intended, his hope is that peole will ignore that last chapter, ignore it as if it never happenned.

It seems to be missing from the article (which I wrote Anime smallmouthWink but I remember disticntly that they said they were releasing it with the same volume breaks as there were in the original Japanese release.

Viz's original release moved the volume breaks around. So this re-release version is more authentic in that aspect.

Yep indeed, that is the wrong cover. I've fixed the missing covers, but I can't find that one online anywhere. Interestingly enough, I bought the Manga on Saturday, so I'll just scan a copy of the cover when I get home tonight.
