Pretty cool that these look like they're going to be tied more closely to the manga than the earlier series were.

I don't get the title though, my Japanese and Latin aren't so great, but essentially isn't it just White Wing twice? Why not just Mahō Sensei Negima! ~Ala Alba~ like you noted in your title but not in the encyclopedia entry. Oh well, I'll take good Negima content however I can get it. Now how to get it shipped over here....

Yes.

Eva's character design seems a little off from what I'm used to. I can't quite place what is different though. Still, this is gonna be awesome.

I wish they would just cave in and animate the mahora festival arc. Thats what people really want anyways Laughing

A lot of people will be happy to see Kotarou. My first thought when I say Marina Inoue was that she was in Manabi Straight. IT made sense when I looked her up and she was the butch one, Mucchi.

The Japanese audience will be even less familiar with latin than you, so the name is given in Japanese also for their benefit.

Wow. I'm seriously considering ordering these releases. Finally, new Negima anime. And I get copies of the Japanese manga with it to boot. Awesome!

That makes a lot of sense when you consider it that way. Thanks for the feedback to BB's question. I was wondering that myself once it was pointed out. I'm only basically familiar with Latin.

Anyway, as for the video: I'm absolutely thrilled to see such faithful new character designs for these OAVs, and the animation, as per Negima!? and the recent other OAVs, looks clean and very high quality. Also, I'm exceedingly happy to see more of the manga's cast get their chance in the anime spot light, such as Chachamaru in her 2nd/younger body; but especially Kotaro, given that he's one of my favorites out of the male cast. Anime catgrin

What's more, I can only hope that with the steady popularity of the Negkima! franchise here in the States that this string of OAVs is announced as licensed sometime in the near future. Even with my mixed feelings regarding the first adaptation and even small issues with !?, I've become very fond of the voicing crew.

Ah yes! Ku:nel is appearing in the anime! That makes me so happy! Ku:nel's a freakin' badass. I can't wait to see him and Kotaro in anime form. But if only they had animated all of the Mahorafest arc, that would have been awesome, but only a sweet dream away sadly. Sad

I'm a little disconnected from Negima but how does this fit into the other series - an extension of Negima!, or Negima!?, or something new?!? Also who is Kotaru?

The OVAs are based on the manga, from a few specific chapters (the numbers escape me right now but I believe they were stated in the original news article). Kotarou was a one of the antagonists from the Kyoto arc who was not included in the original anime adaptation and has become a regular character in later chapters of the manga.

I had assumed this to be another OVA. As far as I remember the others were continuations of the first series, Negima!. So are you saying that this will also be a continuation of the first series?

And thanks for the explanation of Kotaru.

I don't think any of the current animated releases are related at all. If anything, the Summer and Spring OVAs are only related to each other.

I suppose you could say that this a point where we finally may see a faithful adaptation to the manga.

This appears to be more similar to what happened with Tsubasa. like with Negima, in Tsubasa the show started to divert from the manga to the point where it was not able to mesh well with the manga. Because of that they decided to just animate several chapters of Tsubasa manga into an OVA that followed the manga. The same thing is really happening with Negima. It looks like this OVA wont really follow either anime series since it is going to be following the manga instead.

Regardless, I am still going to purchase the manga like I have been since the start of the series four years ago. However, I am glad Mr. Akamatsu is still producing anime.

Though I didn't personally like the first Negima series, I might check out the others eventually.

Well, Negima! was originally based on the manga, so you could view it as an extension of that, though it diverted a bit; the Kyoto arc was quite a bit different, and the whole spoiler[Asuna's death] thing was new. This is more faithful to the manga, so entirely different from Negima!?

Kotarou Inugami was spoiler[one of the bad guys in the Kyoto arc, working for Chigusa. He's a half wolf demon. He escaped prison and came to Mahora to warn Negi of Hermann, and has since been living with Natsumi, Chizuru and Ayaka in their dorm room, posing as Natsumi's brother.]
