If I recall correctly, this wouldn't be Amano's first forray into animating classical music.
Years ago, when the internet was still young, i remember seeing a very small thumbnail from a classical concert that featured animated clips directed by Amano and other artists. The animation was projected onto a screen behind the orchestra. I remember it looking very colorful and loose and wispy, but also strong and solid, just like Amano's paintings. I wanted to see that concert sooooo bad! I don't remember which composer it was, but it was one of the greats like Bach or Beethoven. Does anyone else remember this or have more info on it? |

I think you may be thinking of 1001 Nights, a collaboration between Amano, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, and a handful of American artists and animators. The music was actually an original score composed by David Newman, but it's definitely classically inspired and quite good.
You can find the DVD on R2 and it's quite worth buying. I've watched my copy many, many times. |
