Lol, well alot of people here where i live... don't even kno what Arigatou means... xD so when i share my japanese music with everyone, i always have to tell them what it means, and the english lyrical stuff. Well, im suprised that all of the Japanese songs i've been showing people i kno, people have liked alot, even though they don't know what in the world they were saying.
So... YES I WOULD DEFINITELY promote japanese music!! >=o

I gave a powerpoint presentation on video game music last year. The class didn't say anything about it, and the teacher said "I never expected that!" Really, though, only my friends and family know that I listen to video game and anime soundtracks, aside from a few others. I've listened to it in public places with my girlfriend, and occasionally, people come up to me, having noticed that I'm playing music they've heard before. If I tell them I normally listen to the stuff, they just kind of shrug it off and forget about me.

My school has a radio station, but I don't have enough courage to go up to them and say "I want to play video game music on your airwaves." The best option is to ask for the option to have an instrumental (classical and otherwise) block, and I could sneak in some VGM/anime OST stuff from time to time.

The best promotion I do for Japanese music is import the stuff myself. I don't download. I think that that is important as well.

I sometime have Japanese music on my CDs I make for my car, and even more so when I had an mp3 player in my old car. That really only allows me to let my friends hear it, but most of my friends are in bands or into music so they are the kinds of people to always give a song a shot. Some like it and some don't, but it still gets out there I suppose. On the flip side I also have to listen to my cousin's German music, so we pass some music back and forth haha.

I promote Japanese music. I buy weird obscure stuff that Japanese don't listen to, like r.o.r.s...which only had one album or Crayonsha. Maybe I'm too I've Sound-ed or maybe I eat too much rice.

Personally I'm sick of people, where I live, thinking that Japanese music is just anime themes or just what is popular (Who is (was) HONDA Minako again?) that no one knows what one is saying anyway because not one them knows Japanese...though they are in fourth year!

Sorry for the rant.

i am not sure that what i am doing is a promoting, you tell me:in my school this kind of music is not really popullar but since i have got so many of them and i listen to it almost at anytime at anyplace, poeple around me started asking me whether this is chinese music or japanese!(yet, japanese and chinese are totally unlike but they couldn't tell the difference!!)anyway they liked it even without knowing the lyrics they just loved the way it is played, the instruments used and everything.and since i have got almost a thousand song on my PC and only 9 on my mobile phone, i used the bluetooth to send this songs to my friends(it's the easiest way till now)and then some of my friends even borrowed some of my anime DVDs.So is that considered as a promoting?? Very Happy

Hell yeah! I'm always after my buddies to listen to my Japanese song collection, and I'm happy to say I've even succeeded sometimes. Besides which, I'm always first to recommend some Japanese songs to any poster in forums who wants 'em. Yeah, I'm considerate that way Smile .

I'm really glad to see all these people who promote Japanese music. And, yes I'm still blasting their waves with the best of L'Arc, Tamaki, Hikaru etc. In fact, I have three dates coming up following March Break. So, it will be a good month for me.

Xenofan 29A: Do you have to specify what you're going to play? I never did, and there was only one time I was asked about it by the head, and it didn't phase him at all. Just try it out man. Last year, when I started, I wasn't sure if I should either but I just went for it one day. I mixed things up at first, playing a variety of music, throwing in "Ready Steady Go" or another Japanese song in there with whatever else I played.

In a sense, I mixed cultures as well, made it more interesting. Play rap/hip-hop, then Soca, Reggae, and Japanese music keeps things varied, and appeals to many crowds in a subtle manner. This year, I went full out Japanese on them though since my library had grown a lot over the summer.

At this point, I started using the alias Edward Elric. Some people know its me but their mainly my friends, and are already aware that I listen ot Japanese music. Some teachers have caught on, they don't really say anything. The teacher in charge of the radio stuff likes it. And, I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but I did make one of the music teachers dance to "Ready Steady Go". Quite an accomplishment I suppose.

So just give it a go man. Smile Ues an alias if you have, or disguise your voice. Or, do something really off the wall, and do what L does when he talks to people. That should be quite funny for anyone familiar with Death Note if they hear someone sounding like L, with the name L on the school radio.

Starting to watch anime in late 2006 I like to share my favourite songs with my friends.

However, I have to say that most people here in the UK and in Germany are not interested in anime, the so called Japanese "rubbish". To be frank, I think anime is a lot better and more appealing to me than any of those blockbusters that I gave up ages ago when the last Episode of Star Wars was released...

I'm trying to play the songs "Lithium Flower" of GitS: SAC by Yoko Kanno and "Marry Me" by Ellegarden (well, they don't play in animes but I found them on an album called "Synchronized Rockers" of The Pillows where Ellegarden played Funny Bunny in their own style Smile on the next battle of the bands in our school.

That's pretty awesome. I love Funny BunnY! So, I'm assuming their version is in English right? Perhaps, I should look into this more.

Anyways, I'd like to add a little bit about my progress on my school radio station. It seems many teachers have recognized the person posing as "Edward Elric", is me. However, they're also fans of the music I play as well. Which is a bit surprisingl but I'm so glad that I could do that. Furthermore, even though I'm in Gr. 12, I'm staying an extra year in high school to take some additional classes. And, since the current head of the radio program is going. I have officially been named head of the radio program for next year! Very Happy

Whoi thought an impulse to play something different on an otherwise boring in-school radio program would get me a leadership role? Very Happy

honestly speaking, i try to promote japanese music to my friends, but they are too obsessed over korean songs. i myself am a total addict to most japanese songs, and plus, i think japanese is much easier to read and pronounced compared to korean.
i usually share some of my favorites with friends, but they don't have the same happy feeling i get when i listen to it... so it isn't always that great for me to promote since i don't get a great reaction from them...
