I'm playing Oath in Felghana on the Steam version which had voice tracks added a few years back, and man, what an absolute blast it is, such smooth feeling movement and combat even more than the games closest to it in the series like Ys VI, I don't gel at all with Soulslike games for example, that expect you to die over and over but this is one of the few games where even after death I can keep going again and again. The performance of some of the characters does come off as a bit goofy at times so maybe the new voices will be an improvement- Adol being voiced can feel a bit weird, don't mind you hearing him for just a few lines to add impact maybe just a couple of times in the game.
It's also not really a long enough game that it feels like a turbo mode is needed? The version out right now has 5 difficulty settings so if u need to speed things up could always start on one of them, and even what grinding you might want to do doesn't feel like a big chore, I guess the cool soundtracks might be worth the money given the reputation of the music in the series, if putting them on in the background instead would be too much of a hassle.

It's mainly for grinding XP. Some of the original Ys games had turbo mode in their original releases back on the PC-8801 so I don't particularly consider it "cheating" either. It's very useful when playing some of the games on emulator. The last 5 or so levels in Oath were particularly monotonous to grind out given everything only gives you 1 exp at that point.
I wonder if the Steam version will get this as an update or it'll be a new release. I'm not sure I'll double dip until it's on sale down the line but I might end up going for all the Steam achievements again. I'm not sure entirely what's all changed beyond the UI and graphics though.

I might just double dip for the collector's edition for Switch but I really hope it does get updated because I have all the Y's game on Steam which is easy since they go on deep sales often.

I'll never say no to more Ys, but it's super weird we still don't have a version of Ys 5 yet.
