----------------------------------

Wow, only one episode in but so far amazing. Truly brutal. Hope it maintains this quality for the rest of the six episodes. Yeah the lip flaps are terrible and faces in general wooden, but the actual mech animation and backgrounds are top notch.

[EDIT: Fancy opener stuff added. -TK]

Ok finished the series, overall pretty good.

The narrative for the first 2/3rds of the season borrows heavily from HG Wells original War of The Worlds novel with the Gundam taking the place of the Tripods and the dream of an underground city replaced with a Zeon recycling facility where the commander hopes if they just hide the Federation Forces will pass them by. The series suffers from trying to fit too many characters into the 6x 22min episodes and so results in all but the main character being a bit thin, the conclusion is also a bit weak with it deciding to for a sad but hopeful ending (Story intensity declines steadily throughout the season), in fact if it was just the first 4 episodes I think the overall series quality would actually be higher as there's a bit of a tonal shift after that from the horror of MS Igloo 2: The Gravity Front to something a bit more vanilla, it should have stopped there or left episodes 4-6 for a second season. Also the upbeat ending contrasts heavily with the grim reality of the same event portrayed in the MS Igloo episode Dance of the Orbital Ghosts.

Only other thing to note is that after the first couple of episodes the visuals of the military bases and camera work starts drawing heavily from Front Mission 3.

My father in his 60s loves it & I enjoy seeing him get into the same franchise as me. I'm debating on what series i should show him next as it has to be dubbed due to him hating subtitles
