And there we have one of those elusive shows with 12 minute episodes. I would personally like more of them since some shows (especially those based on 4-koma manga) would work better with that shortened duration. Anyway, Archenemies is a pretty cute show with some dark humor sprinkled on top of it. The romance between the walking mess of a Magical Girl and the in crisis evil officer is fun. The magical girl is struggling to survive with several jobs (and her magical girl mascot seems evil as hell) but seems to be a decent person and the evil officer is having a life crisis after having fallen in love.
It seems like a simple story but given the shorter episodes, vibrant look and the fun premise I am sticking with it. |

That cat needs to be taken care of, it is way more evil than the supposedly evil organisation is.

Episode 2
Finally got around to sampling this and liked it. Agree that the half-length is more suitable for a one note premise like this. |

It also helps that the show looks really good. As for the ''cat'' it was indeed killed this week but it seems to be coming back in not that much time. It also seems like it will be really hard for Miller to keep hiding his actions now that he has a helper.

I liked this anime. The reason I avoided it for this long is because it seems to me like a premise that has a limited shelf life. I watched the anime about the Red Ranger rip-off dating a super villainess, and I watched the one about the evil villain who likes to go to the panda zoo, and I enjoyed both of them well enough at first. But after a while, it was like watching a hamster spinning in a wheel because they couldn't really progress the story without ending it. I think maybe stories like these ought to have pre-plotted beginning, middle, and ending arcs. Like The Duke of Death or the recent Astro Note.
And maybe this one will. It hasn't descended into a series of rinse and repeat battles like I thought it might. I also find the idea of a magical girl sweat shop set up kind of interesting. The female lead is going to have to become something other than a sweet, dumb, cute little lamb at some point for me to really think of this as a romance, but as a comedy it's doing alright, |

This isn't based on an ongoing series; the manga ended prematurely due to the author's passing in 2015. It seems to be being animated partially as a tribute to her, so I think it'll be written with an ending; there are only 20 chapters of source material to begin with.

That indeed makes a difference though the reason behind it is sad. If that's the case, I'll root for it being a worthy tribute.

Given the quality of the show I would indeed say that it is a worthy tribute so far. The show looks and sounds great with some amazing moments. There characters are also a fun bunch with the introduction of Fomalhaut the golden retriever this week. Next week seems to add a second magical girl to the mix which could be fun.

It is a worthy tribute indeed and I am thankful that it introduced me to the series, if it weren't for the people that really wanted this to happen I would have no idea the series exists to even check out the manga. I wish we had more time to get to know the characters, but the comedy is really on point and the contrast with the dramatic visuals is excellent. |

A month has gone by and the show has maintained the high level of quality. All the characters (besides a certain one) are fun, the animation is really good and thanks to some new characters the show still feels fresh plus the romance is slowly ramping up.
I do wish the cat/angel would die permanently in a fire though. |

And so we had an episode with a tiny bit of horror in it. The snow and lighting made for some really good looking moments. I do wonder where they will go with the final episode though, it seems like it is going for the ''and their adventures go on'' type of ending without any major developments.

And so ends a good romance/magical girl show that looked and sounded great while being very fluffy. The one exception to that is the cat who was nasty 99% of the time and is sadly still around.

It was a lot of fun while it lasted, I am once again so glad that I got to see this animated by Bones and be introduced to this story
