dipping their toes into live action porn is interesting.

Anyway, only thing I have any interest in is the second Nanoha movie

I'm going to guess one of those was part of a package deal with something else since the anime DVD they put out for Crunchyroll went OOP long ago without as much of a Blu-ray upgrade.

Great to finally have Layzner after all this time, on its destined medium.

It's probably foolish to assume too much, but I hope this is a sign of more Sunrise classics being on the table. It still drives me nuts Daisuki.net subbed Vifam and L-Gaim officially, then went away forever practically immediately right after.

Well, we did get Xabungle fairly recently, so hopefully we will see more in the future.

Was hoping more for Heavy Metal L-Gaim, being the Tomino fan I am. But wasn't expecting Layzner to be picked up, so can live with that.

I think this is the first time that live action porn is part of a license package.

I am so beyond ecstatic about Aim for the Ace 2. It didn't even get the fansub treatment and I've been desperately wanting to see it for years. Hopefully the original series and movie are selling well enough for them that more classic shoujo is still worthwhile enough to get picked up. I try to support those whenever I can.

I'm actually looking forward to almost the whole slate of titles this time (don't care about the live action one). Puss in Boots is worth a doubledip for a BD release for sure. Gonna love upgrading my DVD for it, plus it gives me hope that maybe they'll go back through their own back catalog to rescue some of those woefully out of print titles like Animal Treasure Island and Taro the Dragon Boy.

Animal Treasure Island is getting a Blu-Ray release about a month from now! I recall that Animal Treasure Island was first announced on their Twitter (and thus there is no ANN article), so it's possible that Taro the Dragon Boy will also get a Twitter announcement sometime in the future. Or it will come up at Otakon, but I doubt it; this stream was put on because they had far too much to announce, so they made the less mainstream announcements separately.

I just finished up watching Armored Trooper VOTOMs collection on blu-ray (I bought the BD collection last year), and hearing the announcement of Layzner now finally getting a US BD release really excites me, I've been wanting to watch that series too. Finally, I may get chance to watch it in one form or another.

Also I want to ask about Recently, my sister is unusual US release:

Quote:
The release will include the theatrical cut and the longer 18+ home video version

18+? Is this a porno like some netizens on ANN are saying? Is the 18+ version anything like Caligula (1979 film) with the graphic unsimulated porn-style sex scene added in post-production? If it is, I hope Discotek remember to add a warning label on it, and it may have to sell at a XXX stores because if the 18+ version had uncensored porn-style unsimulated sex scene, I don't know if you can sell that at Best Buy, or any mainstream retailers that sell commercial DVDs/BDs. Oh, and one more thing: make sure the pixelation censorship on the genitals (which is standard practice in Japanese porn) are unblur and remove before shipping out for sales.

Out of the old Sunrise titles, I want to see them get Jushin Liger since in addition to being a Go Nagai title, it's pretty well known thanks to the wrestler who used the gimmick for so many years.

Surprised to see Layzner, but it's a welcome one. I'll probably be picking this one up.

I'd love to see L-Gaim as well, so maybe next time? Smile

This is a more light Discotek so the only things I'm wanting is more subbed Medabots, more Aim for the Ace, the Toei Puss n Boots movie, more Nanoha, more Sgt. Frog and Blue Comet SPT Layzner.

10-15 years ago I would have been ecstatic over a SPT Layzner release. Back in the day it was one of those fabled holy grail shows amongst mecha nerds. However, I finally got the chance to watch it recently and...it's not very good IMO. The pacing is incredibly slow, and it's full of storytelling topes that are not only very dated but also clunky in their implementation. I wanted to love it, but it was a slog to get through and it really shows its age. That said, still dig the mecha designs & I'll probably pick up this release anyway just to watch the good moments with clean, HD visual quality.

I'm also going to have to grab that whole Legend of the True Savior collection. I'm a big Hokuto no Ken fan, and have only seen clips from over the years but never learned how the whole film project fits together. So these will be badass to experience in full!

So happy they got Robbie Daymond back as Kenshiro. Really enjoyed his performance in Lost Paradise. Sad that Discotek, still hasn't given any sort of update on when they might release the next season of Ippo.
