I've always felt that L'Arc sounds like they're bored of whatever song they're doing when they perform, with a few exceptions. "Daybreak's Bell" grew on me as Gundam 00's theme song, though. It was certainly better than "Ready Steady Go" for Fullmetal Alchemist.

I actually loved Spiral. It's my favorite song along with Daybreak's Bell.

I love Spiral, I think it's one of the best songs on the album. Laruku only has one song that gives me a headache: eien on SMILE. Now that's painful. But it's good to see I'm not the only one who likes Hurry X'mas. It's such a great feel-good song.
Also, am I the only who thinks that the intro of sunadokei sounds as if it was lifted straight out of As if in a dream from Dune? It confused me for a moment when I listened to the album for the first time, like "what's this song doing here? ...oh."

You may want to watch some live DVDs. Club Circuit Realive, for example, or the latest, 15th anniversary live. They definitely don't sound or seem bored.

First, I love the idea of this new column. Very refreshing and interesting.
As far as the music reviewed; while I greatly appreciate the insights and analysis, I feel like I'll need to experience the songs for myself just the same... to see if I deem them "good" or "bad." On the whole, very much looking forward to future Installments from Hai.

That's your opinion... When I started watching "Fullmetal Alchemist" on [adult swim] in February 2005, part of my enjoyment was this crazy opening song that I learned later was "Ready Steady Go". High energy that ramps up & slows down just right. Great start to "Hai Fidelity" & looking forward to more... every other week? *sigh*

I've had my eyes on this album for a long time. I really want it, and all the more now. I wish I had more money . . . .

I'm very excited for this new column. I enjoy J-pop/J-rock a lot, but I pretty much only find out about a group after they've done a song for an anime series. I hope this column will give me some new groups to listen to!

L'arc is pretty hit or miss for me, and it's usually miss. They're kind of like Smashing Pumpkins for me--love the actual music, but the sound of the lead singer's voice just bugs me so much that there are very few songs I can truly enjoy by either group. Damn shame too, I really do like a lot of the actual music for both.
That said, I'll probably be getting Kiss eventually, if only because my husband likes L'arc quite well.

cool column!
I can't wait for future installments. The review was pretty good, but I'm not a L'Arc fan, so it appealed to me less than it would if it were about another band.
Any chance of reviewing an Asian Kung-Fu Generation CD? I think they deserve a lot more attention than they get in America.

Yay! I like this new feature! ^__^
As for L'arc-en-ciel, I would say that - based on their anime songs alone - they are one of my favourite J-music acts! I think I'll definitely have to check this album out ... unfortunately, it doesn't seem like iTunes have it available for purchase from Ireland :/

They aren't currently on my "To Do" list but they have a new album coming out next week so chances are they will show up sometime in the future.

Great new feature! ANN is expanding! (I still wonder about the gaming feature) Well, Kiss album really does entertaining and I do like L'arc~en~Ciel, but I did notice them hitting the media scene quite a lot and quite recently is Devil May Cry 4. Hrm... quite good actually. I see great potential with this feature and hopefully keeps on going (unlike what is going on with the gaming one).

I find so many of their songs sound alike. I do have some of their songs but I wouldn't call myself a fan.
Love the new section though, look forward to the next installment!

My only critique is cut out the "loosely translated" bit. That really isn't necessary, and it's redundant seeing it multiple times.

I guarantee you that without that this entire thread would be people whining and nitpicking the translations to death.
