2021 couldn't let go without one final kick in the pants. Rest in peace to a legend among legends.

I don't believe this. Betty White gone? She didn't even make it to a hundred. She deserved to live a little longer,at least. This is just plain sad. It's not just "Ponyo" where people saw her. There was a sitcom called "Golden Girls" that I saw when I was a kid. One of the most memorable things about that show her character,Rose Nyland, recalling stories about her hometown of St. Olaf. Trust me,they were very bizarre and awfully funny, too. It's just a shame this happened.
RIP,Betty White. You lived a long life but you deserved to be here a little longer. You should have made it to a hundred.

I expected this because she was in her 90's. It could have happened any day since she was in her 80's, but we were fortunate that it didn't. What am I surprised about is it happening on the last day of the year. That is most unfortunate. Thank you Betty for the laughs all these years. Of course, my first experience with you was in Golden Girls. Thank you for being a friend.
RIP
PS: All the Golden Girls are no longer with us after the crazy streak that started in 2008, 2009, and 2010.

RIP, I still can't believe it. The Golden Girls is one of my favorite sitcoms and she's absolutely iconic. So sad that she never made it to 100

I loved her in the Golden Girls...yet I almost forgot she was in Ponyo. This one hurt and hit hard. RIP to our talented angel.

We lost a legend, an icon, and an overall amazing and memorable cool gal.
RIP Ms. White. Thank you for all the years of fun, laughter, and love.

I'm pretty sure it's less that the article is saying people know her for Ponyo and more that her role in the Ponyo dub is the anime related detail that would have ANN report on her passing when they otherwise wouldn't have.

It's a shame she died. I'm not sad, she was an awesome lady, but she reached an age where you're impressed she lived that long and you understand it was just her time. Like I'm more disheartened that she was less than three weeks away from her 100th birthday when she died. Living to 100 is extremely impressive.
My favorite moment of her's had to be the scene in Community where her character attacks Jeff with a weapon she created from a bunch of tools used by early humans. It also shows her ability to use her kindly Grandma aura and then turn it around to do something messed up. She was great at that...
