It actually makes sense in the grand scheme of things. With how S2 ended with.....that, you gotta have a more bombastic plot worthy for the big screens!

Another project for Mappa..... yes, lets keep overworking that staff while also paying them starving wages.
Mappa really needs to slow down with the amount o projects (many of which come from high profile mangas) they are working. Please just finish the ones you already have before announcing new ones.
Also, for the love of god, please don't let them be the ones doing the possible Spy x Family adaptation (100% guarantee an adaption is coming)

If this is a direct continuation of where the previous season ended, this may well be "season 3", just like Battle of Unato was Kabaneri's "Season 2". I really hope a movie indicates this story rounding out to a fitting, maybe even epic conclusion.
