I dedicated 10+ long, long years of my life to Bleach, and the only thing I’ve come to expect from KT now is STYLE, which this movie has. Despite all its flaws, it punched me in the early Bleach feelings, so I can’t complain too much.

I enjoyed it, so I hope they adapt the next part of the manga as well. I'd definitely be fine with it not getting too involved with Bleach though. I think it best this stand on it's own and just leave it at the two stories sharing the same world.

Although I'm not a big Kubo fan, I feel that both Nick and Steve are drastically underestimating how many anime fans (and, in particular, how many casual fans) are excited that the Bleach anime is coming back. I doubt it's as universally reviled as they seem to think it is.

I went into this not knowing a thing about it, so while I was scratching my head over the nod to the Soul Society, it still didn't click until they pointed it out here why the logo was so randomly red. D'oh. >.<

Quote:
Bruno [Bangnife] is...here, and it's so he can get horned up beyond belief in fanworks. And for that, I thank Kubo.

Oh yes, indeed. Made the whole thing worthwhile. Smile

I enjoyed it all much more than the reviewers and look forward to more, though I could've done without the lesbian being a yandere. I didn't even mind drooling potato boy that much. I do however question the aesthetics, let alone the hygienics, of wearing their pipe weapons in a leg holster that puts the mouthpiece right next to their butt. Ew.

I enjoyed this a lot. I love the worldbuilding, and actually hoped that it's just its own world and not shared with Bleach's. Love how Noel's gun works, or how a flower bloomed on the creature's antler, Reverse London is a delight for me as a fantasy fan, plus Kubo Tite's own stylish antics like Bruno's magic. Major downside for me is only Balgo's character. I think I can see how his character is intended to be and it could work, but I still think he can be better designed.

Basically this. Kubo has always been more style over substance. There's stuff in BTW that I liked, but way too much reminded me of Bleach(Bruno's magic is rad, but he looks like Brit-punk Grimmjow even before putting on the skull-kerchief). I would love to see him team up with another writer to create a work, but I doubt it'd ever happen. I'm really glad Nick and Steve gave this an honest review without just pandering to the genius-that-is-Kubo like most do. Folks here have seemed to forget that review articles are other people's opinions and will not always match up to your own. Rolling Eyes

I honestly wouldn't give a **** about BTW under normal circumstances, but the fact it takes place in the same universe of Bleach gives it enough of a meta element to make me interested in where it could go.

I remember stopping with Bleach some time after the whole humanoid hollows were a thing, it added some interesting elements, but parts just started to feel redundant, and was kind of bored of the focus on Orihime.

The won't say that the Bleach connection was not an aspect that got my attention in Burn The Witch, although I only figured it out at the end. But I was kind of more interested in comparisons that Studio Colorido did with the Pokémon Twilight Wings, how their art is really interesting for worldbuilding.

Same here.

I haven't read/watched BTW and I only read a little of Bleach but it kind of feels like a shame that it's been shoehorned into Bleach world when Bleach (as far as I recall) didn't have any dragons or parallel Englands.

The connection hasn’t really been brought up to any major capacity. It’s such a small thing that I feel like it’s not really worth caring about until it actually comes up.

I didn't realize till I read this that it had anything to do with Bleach. i mean it doesnt need too, it didn't affect my enjoyment at all.

Im more bummed this wasnt just the first 3 episodes of a series, coz Im down to watch some more. I thought it was solid fun.

Seriously. I know this wasn't a review, but they spent more time crapping on Kubo than actually discussing the show.
