That sounds more concrete than the percentages he would give.

I hope Oda takes a nice long and well deserved vacation after it ends.

It does. However he did originally also said that the story was going to be 5 years in total back in 1997. He also has a LOT of answers to give and a lot of stories to wrap up, I'm sure he is estimating, and with the years he has gotten better at doing so since he has more experience as a mangaka. But even for Oda, such things are hard to gauge. I mean it's like asking, "How many manga panels can you fit all the ideas that are in your head in? Oh and please translate it in real-world working time, please"
He has the experience, and he can estimate. But gOda is no really a real god here.
I really want to see this to the end, it's my fav anime/manga it's kinda sad and accomplishing to see where we have gotten

If I had to guess, that estimate will probably realistically end up stretching to at least seven years, which, if done right, should give him enough time to wrap everything up properly. It'll probably be the hardest thing he's ever done, but he's certainly shown that he's worthy of trusting with such an epic task. I look forward to seeing how it plays out.

I can only imagine the term "want' is not really being translated well into English. That said, even if it was, wanting to end the series in 5 years does not mean he will actually end up doing that.

As if. Hell freezes over before OP ends. He said the same in 2004.

I honestly don't know why he keeps on trying to estimate how much time is left.

It's understandable that people may not believe him. i do simply because at this point they made their way through a good portion of the second half of the Grand Line.

Charles, right before being crowned: I'm gonna be king of the British!

Didn't he say this exact same thing about 4 or 5 years ago?

So is he going to rush Teach's arc, because Kiado and Big Mom have yet to be defeated yet and aren't anywhere near it. and behind them we have Teach and the World Government to deal with.

It would actually make sense, considering another 4/5 years would put the series at around 1200 chapters, and the timeskip was around 600, and I'm sure I remembering him saying that the two halves of the series would be roughly the same length. Also, we are much closer to the end than people realize. We just got the flashback of the Roger Pirates' voyage, and there's probably only three arcs left after Wano (Elbaf, Raftel, final war). It could go for more than 5 years considering there is a lot to wrap up, and Oda has admitted that he continues to be struck with new ideas all the time, however the pacing of the first half picked up rapidly leading into Marineford, yet it still didn't feel rushed. We're definitely in the final stretch, or at least approaching it. Either way, I have faith that whenever it ends it won't be rushed, and will be satisfying.
