I am looking forward to watching this movie, but I will wait for the $25 BD release rather than go to a movie theater and spend $40+.

Looks like this is more akin to the Violet Evergarden release at a quick glance. I only have one theater screening it near me (that's still over 30 minutes away), which is pretty rare nowadays where I live.

Are you buying more than one ticket? Because it should not be $40 to see this.

Fantastic news indeed!
I have been curious what's been going on with the "Maruruk's Everyday" shorts as well; it's nice to hear that two of them will be airing with the movie. I think they had announced a total of 4 of those were going to be made? Hopefully the eventual BD release will have all 4.
