Almost looks like a Pixar production. Very nice.

I am SO glad Japan is finally getting the hang of CGI anime! Hopefully, Discotek will get this and get the regular crew to dub it for all of our enjoyment over here!

If more CGI anime looked this smooth and expressive, I doubt there would be as many complaints about CGI anime.

Well it’s not trying to be 2D. It’s trying to be “what if Lupin, but 3D CG?” That gives it a bit more freedom to be different.

Do you have an inability to see quality work?

I'd see it just to give the story and director a chance, but the CG just isn't working for me. Everything looks too much like shiny plastic toys. Maybe that was intentional given the cartoonish proportions of everyone and everything, but I could do without the shine.

There'd still be people who prefer 2D, like myself. It's not an issue of quality. just the fact people prefer 2D over any CG and find CG inherently inferior and less appealing.

Sure but that's pure subjective opinion versus say the criticism towards the CGI in the recent GITS anime.

Those are both subjective opinions.
Just because GiTS isn't "True" to source with the new CGI doesn't inherintely make it bad CGI. It just makes it a poor design choice that fails to accurate portray the artistic stylings more often portrayed with GiTS.
That said this looks good and seems to have been handled with the utmost care when it comes to crafting the characters and their expressions which has always been a staple of Lupin.

Y’all are wilin. Everywhere else I go online I see unanimous adoration for the visuals of this film. Not that alternative takes aren’t fine, but from my perspective it’s just clinging onto the past and a general disdain towards CG over traditional (I won’t resort to the “ok boomer” cop-out, even though I sneakily may or may not have done exactly that). This is the only forum I’ve seen people who would actually go as far as to call it “yucky.” Of which it most certainly is not! There’s so much obvious care and attention to detail going into the art of the film. I really wish monkey punch could’ve been here to see it through to completion.
