I'm confident this'll get picked for streaming reviews, and my sympathies go out to whoever draws the short straw -- and to whoever has to moderate the forum thread.
Anyway, added it to the Narou anime spreadsheet. |

I've read this one and...yeah.
It's more of a revenge porn story than Shield Hero. |

Well now some people are going to find out that Shield Hero was a mild revenge story. I am somewhat surprised that they are even trying to make an anime out of this light novel series. They did mention that the anime adaptation will be inspired by the light novels which is likely the only way that you could turn this into a broadcast TV show.

So if Netouyo are basically like nationalist incels, what's the J-equivalent of a "Stacy"?

There is such a thing like scraping at the bottom of the barrel, and then there's something like forgoing the barrel altogether and digging into the dirt underneath it like a pig. That is what this announcement is like.
I honestly won't be surprised if this gets canceled halfway through production, once online discussion focuses on the fact that the novel's contents are like 70% the protagonist brainwashing, raping and deceiving women into following him on his campaign of revenge, and female seiyuu realizing that acting in this is basically like voicing really creepy porn. |

Okay I crap on LN protagonists for having very generic looks but I would gladly take bake the Kirito look over this douche-bags smug-ass grin & his page-boy haircut.

The contents of this edgy novel are not only NSFW, but also too extreme to consider “mainstream”-friendly. I, however, will look forward to the potential GLORIOUS and DELICIOUS first impression, and episode review for this mess on ANN.

Always irritating that Shield Hero got reduced to the revenge aspect which actually played just a minor role for some pivotal scenes. For me it was a ground-solid fantasy plot with nice game-related ideas, nothing more, nothing less.
Never heard of this series until now, but i guess, it would be the "best" time to adapt it since they can use the whole attention-drawing social media racket revolving Shield Hero and other titles from this genre for a nice online presence boost. It's the irony of all those social media debates for the a more or less questionable titles because negative reception in advance can be much better than having no reactions at all which also benefited the anime release of Shield Hero back then. |
