"it is partly based on the PS4's architecture."
Boring. When is Kutaragi getting back in the picture?

Wow, I already keep mine in standby 24/7 and never really notice any big power drain. Can't argue against better efficiency though.

Seriously, I've never used my sleep mode. Good for those who do, but the simple on/off works just fine for me.

I really bought the gaming computer to buy a computer VR headset and VR games. you can't find VR games on PlayStation like
Gal Gun VR
Gal Gun 2
Custom Order Maid 3d2
Koikatsu Party
even SENRAN KAGURA Peach Beach Splash has extra features in VR mode then whats allowed on PlayStation.

Updates aside, the other main reason to leave it in sleep mode rather than shut down would be to recharge the controller. With how fast the blasted thing drains, that's not a small consideration (and here's hoping that's something else that Sony fixes on the PS5).

This. Though I'm pretty certain that it'll happen.
For one there will be a big emphasis on 4K uprezzing and a few native 4K titles. And it makes no sense not to have 4K UHD blu-ray movie support.
But even more, with a big emphasis on open world titles and the new HDD abilities to make loading faster, and with games like Red Dead Redemption 2 on two discs, and now even The Last of Us Part 2 - a more linear game - coming on two blu-ray discs, they're going to need a larger storage solution for next-gen.

I almost never use the stand by function, only if I'm in the middle of gaming and have to leave for an hour or so. But reduced power usage is always a good thing especially for those who use it fairly often.

I've had mine for almost 2 years now. Only ever used on and off like 5 times and that was to move it.

As mentioned Controllers charge while in rest mode also some games don't need to be restarted when waking from sleep.
