Quote: | The new ToHeart2AD series retains most of the main staff and cast from the first ToHeart2 video series, including director Yasuhisa Kato... |
I'm less than overjoyed to find out that the same directing team who managed to make such a complete hash of the first ToHeart2 series will be at the helm once again. The first series was a textbook example of most of the things you should NOT do when adapting a harem-type visual novel with multiple routes for anime. It must have taken an incredible amount of ingenuity and effort - and not in a good way - to take one of the best known and more popular heroines in the genre (Tamaki Kousaka) and essentially shove her into the background. And while the treatment of Tama-nee was the most glaring character-handling screw up, most of the other girls did not fare much better. I can only hope that the production team has learned from the experience, or else I predict another bitter disappointment on the way.

Wait, wait, wait.
Is this just a commercial for a new Anime for ToHeart2: Another Days (TH2:AD) or just an ad for the ToHeart2 OAV?
It looks just like a whole bunch of scenes from the OAV...

The staff worked on last year's OVAs, not the 2005 TV series (which was universally panned). While I've never watched either, I understand that the three OVA episodes were well received by game fans.

You are correct about the staff being from the OVA's rather than the ones responsible for the TV series. The article said that they were from the "first ToHeart2 video series", and I erroneously assumed that to mean the first TV series. That's what I get for not double checking the names myself. The three OVA episodes were indeed relatively well received, and that does up the odds that the second season isn't going to be doomed from the start. I only hope that this crew is able to do a better job of weaving the individual story threads together into a coherent whole!
