Magipoka's OP song (and the animation for it as well) is very serious and melancholic sounding, which is a total 180 from what the actual show is like.
The ED songs fit the series' tone much better.

Emm.. U know Bleach ED song Houkiboshi??
I think it has nothing to do with the anime...
Houkiboshi means comet right?
It has nothing to do with shinigami or something like that isn't it??

Lithium Flower of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
In contrast to Inner Universe which really helps set a futuristic mood, Lithium Flower seems like an outdated 80's song.

I thought Lithium Flower had more to do with GitS: SAC than Living Inside the Shell from 2nd GIG. Considering that GitS was originally written in the late 80's/early 90's and still retains a lot of that style (the sort of bubbular shape of the tanks, Motoko's hair, etc.) I thought the sound of it was appropriate.
Living Inside the Shell, on the other hand, has nothing to do with anything.

I haven't watched the second season (probaby will never do) but I saw the ending on YouTube. Urgh... the guy who wrote the lyrics was trying too hard to shove the words "in the shell". Yuk.

Yeah i have to agree that, some OP's and ED's have no such comparison with the anime sometimes, but you would have to go indepth with the OP/ED's song's lyrics before you start to think ahead of time. Alot of anime OP/ED's actually do put great meaning into the anime itself, and the song should represent the anime. for example, Joint - Mami Kawada, the Op song for shakugan no shana season 2, made alot of connections when i saw the Op rawr first hand lol. It intrigues me that the Directors sometimes jsut choose random songs, like that of Happy people in bleach too.. yeah...
