Awesome news! The FMP novels from Tokyo Pop where the first LNs that I ever bought. They had such a small supply of them that I had to shop all over the internet in obscure bookshops to finally get a copy of volume 3. I was so upset when I learned no more where coming out.

Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Well, I hope that we see these in print. But very happy that someone has grabbed FMP. It may even get me to go digital for the first time (for an LN).

The article mentioned sequels and spin off series? For the novels?
Can anyone please provide more info on those?

Hooray

At least now if the anime adaptation never finishes, i can complete the light novel series.
It'll be interesting to see how the new translation compares to the old.

Nice! I just hope that they're smart enough to do their research for the karaoke scene. The one thing I was ever impressed with from TP...

What makes that scene particularly difficult? (I haven’t ever read the LNs)

I'm stoked but a little letdown because I've yet to make the transition from physical books to ebooks. This year, I was hoping to buy the four TokyoPop releases too.

There's a scene where there's a karaoke party, and someone sings "Ue o Muite Arukou." The song is a rather famous song, one of the most popular karaoke songs in the world. TP could have just translated it as "I look up as I walk," but the song has been released worldwide under the title "Sukiyaki," and they actually translated that as the title. I was highly impressed that they actually did the research (or, well, someone knew the song... it's actually my mom's favorite song!). Here's more info on the song, if you're interested: Sukiyaki.

Good to hear, now finish the anime version once and for all while you're at.

Kinda bummed it's a re-translation instead of starting with DVMC. I'd like to read BOMF and CMMD with a decent translation, but this just means we'll have to wait longer for that.
There are fan-translations out there for 6-12, but LNs 8 and 9 are only slightly better than google translate.

It probably also refers to the Side Story collections, which are where FMP? Fumoffu! got all of its scenes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Full_Metal_Panic!_light_novels#Short_story_collection
I would really like to see these translated, since there are only fan-translations for a few of them.
