TRSI is offering the series Boys Over Flowers at a really terrific price, but before I invest in it, I'd like to know if any of the rest of you have seen this series and what your opinions are of it. I did look at the Encyclopedia and the synopsis does seem to indicate that it's a series that I'd like but still...I'd like some real world opinions. And y'all haven't steered me wrong yet when I've asked.

For those of you who don't quite know me, here are my Seen Some and my Seen All list for Anime.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I know you'll love this one, Lydia. At least, you of all people should. I haven't seen (or read) all of Boys Over Flowers yet, but I would so love to finish it sometime soon. It's a very good classic shoujo, which is a hard genre for me to really get into. I'm recommending you take TRSI's deal. (I certainly would!) Wink

11the day of Christmas...
all 12 disks of Hana Yori Dango for only $90....
WOW!
You are making me think maybe I want to purchase this as well...
I have seen all of Boys over Flowers and really loved it in a completely girly way. This is a show that took me a bit to get used to at first as the art style was different from what I was used to, but it didn't take long I guess until it seemed normal to me.

The story is the very closest thing to a soap opera I have ever seen animated. I don't watch soap opera's normally, however this show just sucks you into it's wandering plot. Some of the stuff that happens in this show seems a bit different than what would be acceptable in a love interests actions normally, and I found myself constantly wondering who to cheer for.

I can't imagine you wouldn't like it LydiaDianne, I would recomend it to anyone who claims to like shoujo, as this is a very good entry into that genre.

I also definitely think you would like this title, Lydia. Admittedly, I've never seen the anime but I have seen the live action doramas and they were wonderful. It's not the most wonderfully original series out there, but it's full of shoujo goodness which I know you enjoy.

I've only seen vol. 1 of Boys Over Flowers but I liked it more than Marmalade Boy. Maybe because I could relate to the poor kid going to the rich kid school.

I found the series quite addicting to the point of popping one volume after another into the DVD player to find out what happens next.

I heard that the manga is better, but I didn't feel like starting on it since it spans around 25+ volumes. I still think though that the series is worth checking by any shoujo fan.

I really liked the series back in the day, but it's hard for me to watch now. It's really dated IMO.

(same goes for the beginning of the manga, pretty funny seeing how it goes from pagers to video phones Laughing )

I still love the manga though <3

I have heard it was really good. I also saw some of the manga, but I haven't read it yet. I will now due to your guy's recommendation!

I totally love this series, I watched it all in three days because I just couldn't stop myself from going on to the next episode.

What is TRSI? I like in the UK and it's not been released here, but $90 is too cheap to miss out on, even with postage!

Spececializes in various anime products. DVDs (region 1, US/Canada), manga, soundtracks, and other varried types of anime swag. They're known for their frequent bargains and brand name sales. They also have a small division that liscenses/distributes anime called Nozomi Entertainment.

OMG, thank you for the link, Lydia. I just checked it out myself and I just cannot resist that price for Rumbling Hearts, it's a series I have wanted to check out for awhile.

Unfortunately, because I'm moving soon I had to send it to my parents, but oh well, I shall get it and get it for cheap!

You're welcome! It's were I get all of my anime these days. There isn't a video store in my mall anymore and I'm too lazy to make weekly trips to my local Best Buy. Besides, I like having packages come to my door - it's like Christmas every time!
