I was not sure if any one had posted this yet. Sucks that I can't watch it, even though I have 500 channels...

[EDIT: Merged the two threads. -TK]

For those of you that have seen the short feature on anime on the Starz Channel that started showing last night, what did you think if it? I am interested in what you thought of the content, the way it was presented and things along that line, not any opinions of the actual animes that were or were not shown or mentioned.
In my personal opinion, I think they did a pretty good job. I liked the history lesson and it was a pleasent surprise on who was doing the narration. It was nice to see some information about future live action projects, but most of them had already been talked about here on ANN.
Just to stop any one from thinking this is a plant from ANN, I have nothing to do with this web site other than being a fan of anime for a very long time. As was mentioned in the program, I am old enough to remember when Astro Boy crossed the ocean and showed us American kids there was some thing else out there other than Loony Tunes, Tom & Jerry, or Disney. In fact the first anime I came recall seeing was a movie about a monkey king and his "Journey to the West". It is called "Alakazam". I was just facinated by the differences between that had the sugar coated stuff coming out of Hollywood at the time.
Well, I have gotten long winded enough, so lets hear what you have to say.

I didn't really like it. The sentiments were basically "Anime is cool because it's violent and adult!" (and almost all the clips they showed were violent or sexual ones...) and "Anime is better than western cartoons because western cartoons are crappy and for kids" and of course, we just can't get enough of that. Well, i'll have to watch it again, because i only got to watch the last 10-15 minutes of it. =___=

But, i did see the part where, some of the people on there were considering making Anime like....Cowboy Bebop, into something live-action.

Ugh. D:
---
IMO, i think there really shouldn't be any Anime remakes into live-action....unless they "really", "really" know what they're doing. (*Especially if they dont get the essence of the Anime. Like changing the characters completely around or even changing important points in the original storyline*)... Sad
Or....even have an interest in the Anime for that matter...
Meh...but most directors/film produces only care about the profits... D|

Hm...yeah..just my opinion though. :3

Yeah, I put up a thread about it 2 days ago.

*sigh*

I did not get to see it, and have been looking around for it on the net but so far...nothing. I had a bad feeling that it was going to be a joke though. It is so sad to see what is happening to anime these days.

I'm not a guy who watches that much TV (but I do watch a lot of DVDs), but I have caught Gokusen and Street Fighter II V on that channel and thought that was pretty cool of them to do that.

Take note of a lot of the live action anime that has been produced.

Speed Racer= Looks like shit.
Live Action Dragon ball movie=Looks like shit, was a gigantic waste of my time.
Live Action Evangelion Movie.= STOP MILKING IT. I love this show to death but Jesus freaking Christ stop!

They all seem to fail.
Lets just say I am not a fan of Anime+ Hollywood=Great.

I saw it and liked it. The only thing I didn't like was the gratuitous swearing in the dub clips and the clips they had of La Bleu Girl. I think the live-action thing is kinda screwy somewhat but has some potential. The dub voice of Motoko from the Ghost in the Shell TV series, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, was the narrator. Tony Oliver, Veronica Taylor, Peter Fernandez, and Crispin Freeman had commentary in it.
