Considering this is like the second song of his they've used in a Japanese Movie, the first one was Dig In used for a movie called I think Returner about time travel the video for that song was set on an Oil Platform which is where the final major action Set Piece is.

I heard it on the radio the other day, it's not a very good song at all. Mediocre, I guess, but not much better than that.

I dunno, what may suck to you may sound good to others.

I'm going by my own judgment, if you don't mind. =P

Personally, I loved Dani California. I just don't know why it's not on the Death Note Movie OST. >.>;

LOL i'm sorry about this was so funny. I just found him making a L with his fingers too funny.

But in all seriousness, its pretty cool. It could be worse and be a song by like, the baskstreet boys or something.

(...actually I love the backstreet boys)

Question: Do many Japanese movies use english songs in their soundtracks? Or is this just a trend with Death Note movies?

Franz Ferdinand did the ending theme to Paradise Kiss. And didn't one anime somewhere have "Girls on Film" by Duran Duran as a theme of some sort? And of course you can't forget the 80 million versions of Frank Sinatra's "Fly me to the Moon" for Evangelion.

Speed Grapher. Also, don't forget Ergo Proxy's Radiohead and Gankutsuou's theme songs. Not to mention Yoko Kanno is famous for her works with many foreign artists. Not using Japanese artists isn't that unusual.

Hmm,I think that a J-Pop artist will fit better into this role.

For Death Note? Neutral

o_o Of course there are Rock Artists that are Japanese.

Minmi sings a lot of reggae/R&B, and she's Japanese.

._. do you have to be a certain ethnicity to sing a genre of music? I think not.

Yep, not unusual at all. There's also Mushi-Shi and Gunslinger Girl, in which the opening themes featured Ally Kerr and The Delgados respectively. Both are based in Scotland, I believe.
