Just cause it's called an anime rave don't mean there's JPOP

So I'm handed this flyer and it says rave at *such and such* on *certain* Saturday night - CoMe ChECK iT oUt!

Now I'm all about being free-spirited, and open to new things. So I decide to go out and listen to some anime tracks on the way there expecting pretty much rave music...but maybe there will be a few J-POP songs thrown in.

Boy was I wrong.

My ears were bleeding...the only anime references they had were playing images from FFX on the wall...with subtitles... and the 'one' girl that came cosplay'd as one of the Sailors from Sailor Moon.

"Ah, I think to myself." "She must know at least something about it."
...

"Hey there, I see you cosplayed as a Sailor."

"Yeah."

"So you like Sailor Moon do you?"

"Yeah."

"So whose your favorite Sailor?"

"Sailor Moon..."

(the conversation abruptly ended after that as she vomited all over the floor. It was pretty humorous as I look back on it - but at the time it was a bit cathartic. Needless to say, I felt better listening to a little aya hirano and aki misato in my cd player on the way back home.)

What I learned from this? 1. Just because a flyer is anime-themed doesn't mean that they have the slightest idea about anime. And 2. don't do drugs...you really lose touch with reality (They must have been on drugs to think FFX is actually anime.)

I once picked up a pretty nice flyer made with glossy card stock and had an image of an anime girl with cool colors and patterns on the flyer. It was for a rave party. Images of pretty anime girls is effective advertising for young people; typical participants of raves. I never really expect the music or theme of the rave itself to deviate from typical rave style, techno and trance but I like dance music in general so I would never complain if it lacked J-Pop. The addition of J-Pop would be nice but it would need to be something that wasn't too out of place so I'd expect remix or DDR versions of popular J-pop and anime tracks.
