Eh... the idea that the main antagonists are just evil versions of the protagonists seems rather boring.

If they wanted to do a straight game adaptation they should have just done so~

Not sure if "Shtel" is correct for Material S. Other media spell it "Stern."

YES! YES! The Materials and Yuri Evelvine are in this movie for real! They are among my favorite characters.

Stern, the stoic and cold destroyer with hidden warmth inside her heart. Her loyalty towards her king; her destructive fire against raging stars. Wait, is Nanoha pulling an A.C.S through Stern's Shin Luciferion Breaker?!

Levi, the brash, loud and funny airhead with the muscle power of two. A blue lightning that is a fast as the Golden Flash! What is her name again? "I'M STRONG, AWESOME and COOL! LEVI THE SLASHER!"

THE KING OF DARKNESS WITH HER HAMMINESS AND AWESOME EGO IS THIRSTING FOR MORE POWER AND SHE IS LOOKING FOR TO CRUSH THE LITTLE CROW!

And finally, Yuri the Unbreakable Dark, the annihilator of worlds, suffering from her sadness about her lack of self-control.

I'm delighted that the Materials are appearing on TV for the first time ever! Smile
It would interesting to see how well they match against their starring counterparts...

A bunch of romanizations of character names in the list look strange for anyoneone who watched/read the franchise.

The problem is that the furigana used for Stern's name aren't accurate. Her furigana are "Shu-te-ru". "Shu/shi-te-ru-n" would be far more correct. Ironically, her nickname given by Levi of all people is the more correct pronunciation of her name (Shuterun). And we know that Levi is usually a dumbass for most of the time.

Wait, a minute, instead of dark/blood wings, Yuri gets mecha wings?!

Featuring the materials is pretty neutral to me, but one thing is for sure, the girls look horribly unattractive with the ugly noodle designs.

A straight adaptation would be difficult due to several factors.

1) The Gears of Destiny is the sequel to The Battle of Aces. And BoA's story was just nine character routes, with less than half of them being canon in the A's Portable continuity. In GoD, Nanoha and Hayate's relatioship with Stern and Dearche had their roots from their interaction with them in the first game, and the movie has to establish the Materials as new characters, but since BoA's story is mainly about fighting Dark Pieces, there is no compelling story to tell from that.

2) Reinforce is still alive in A's Portable. She can be easily adapted out and she had not much impact in GoD's story and most of her story battles were optional battles.

3) The time travelers. GoD had Vivio, Einhard, Thoma and Lily in them. Even that we know that Reflection will be two movies, is it a good idea to put them in the movies? Also, should the Forwards, Isis and the rest of Gym Nakajima make their appearance? The Forwards couldn't fly, hence they were not in GoD, but in Reflection that would not be an issue. What the movie doesn't need is a bunch of fights that end up with the characters running away. That happens way too often in GoD.

4) Related to 1), the Materials have to be established in a completely new way. The just appeared during the Dark Piece Incident in BoA and there they were not characterized well like they were later in GoD. Kyrie needs them to resurrect Yuri, and the relationship between the Materials and Yuri defined the Materials in a completely new way. Having them being defeated first only to be revived again so they can actually do pursue their true goal would be weird.

5) Precia and Rynith. Dark Pieces of them are in GoD and gave fate and Arf more personal drama while it also build Precia's relationship with Rynith. Due to GoD's nature, they are fighting many characters randomly (in Rynith's case, mostly for casual fun). The movie doesn't need that much fighting. And their story detracts from the main plot.

6) The Liese twins have to be adapted out as well. Due to that, the conflict between them and the Yagami family would also be left out. Probably for the better, because Lieselotte (whose seiyuu is even dead) starts way too many pointless fights and Liesearia has to stop her on multiple occassions. And Kyrie has to be arrested by someone else.

7) The Dark Pieces in general have to be left out, since their only purpose is to give the heroes a reason to fight somebody (or Vita accidently fighting a real person). Like I said before, the movie doesn't need that many fights.

Still, when her name's been written in English in official sources it's be spelled Stern. Which is german for star. The intent is quite obvious.

Keep in mind this is a series of two movies. Based on what happened with the first two movies, the only way you would be (legally) seeing it on TV is to wait until it is released on Blu-ray and then import that. Hopefully it they will have English subtitles, like the first two movies.
