Why do some games, like this one, need to have multiple endings? Isn't just one ending already enough?

Usually it's just to highlight how your choices matter. However, the Zero Escape games in particular MUST have multiple endings or else the story doesn't work. There is a "true ending" for each game if that's what you're worried about.

Because it adds interactivity not only in the form of gameplay, but also in the form of changing the narrative depending on what you have the protagonist do.It highlights the importance of the main character since the narrative and endings are in fact affected by his/her choices and actions. Of course, that's when it's done well. But, as I see it, that's the appeal of games and VNs with multiple endings

Man, I forgot that this was going to be on PC.
I guess now's a time for celebration.

Awww. No more Sudoku From Hell? I have fond memories of beating my brains out over that at 3 in the morning desperate to finally see the ending.

Because video games have the power to have multiple endings when no other art form outside of gamebooks do???
Like, what, do you just want to watch a movie or something? What kind of question is this, why wouldn't a game try and do something experimental with its storytelling?
Btw the blurb is incorrect, there isn't a new ending in 999.

Nooo. They took THAT scene out. are you freaking kidding me? what the hell did they put in there instead. That was an important part of the True Ending. did they keep the scenes and change what puzzle to play instead? or did they cut that scene itself completely. I'm rather annoyed. that whole section in the game was one of the impactful moments for me. Is That what they meant by Changing the ending?

That scene only worked because of the hardware--it depended on the player being able to hold the DS upside down. I would guess that the puzzle changed somewhat, but everything else remained the same.
