Hey! It's probably got enough blood to keep Dracula for a couple of years. I got to check this out!

It's shockingly bloody and violent, yet grotesquely addicting.

I finished the first two a few months ago. I really like them but am a little bit turned off because of how violent it is. I would really like to get a hold of the novel and see the 2 live action movies. I also wish they would make an anime. Don't say that they have because that is different, this is called Battle Royale, and the anime that has a similar name is Battle Royale High School.

I've only read part of the manga, but it's probably more faithful than the movie. A lot of the characters in the move were done differently from the book and you do not get the back stories of a lot of the characters, so you do not know their motivations.
The premise of the Program was different as well, which is too bad because I thought that one of the cooler parts of the book was when the basis of the Program was explained.

Whatever you would get would be illegal because it's not out in America yet. You should look for yourself to see if it's even liscensed and if it isn't don't ask for it because it would be a bootleg.

Just because it is not avalible in the US doesn't always mean bootleg only. BR is avalible on many legit dvds. For instance, the Battle Royale dvd I have is a legit release from Tartan video, which was in a nice tin with a cell from the movie.
Don't always assume that it's a bootleg just cause it hasn't been released in the US. Other countries release legit dvds, you know.

The manga is better than the movie, IMO. I've read the first volume and seen the first movie. How long(Volumes wise) is the BR manga? I saw somewhere awhile back that it is over 12 volumes

There are several releases of the first BR movie that are legit and easily imported (mostly from the UK and Korea)
Also, the translation for the manga hasn't been faithful.
The entire premise of what Battle Royale is has been changed. It wasn't originally a tv show. Also, the dialogue has been changed. Instead of being very straightforward, the guy who translated the series added one-liners and cheesy wish-they-could-be-witty lines.
I read the first volume and after learning about all the changes, would much prefer to read what was oringally done, becuase there are lot of things changed.
The manga is still running in Japan (#12 came out recently)
The book (on which the novel and movie are based) was released in the US earlier this year by Viz. Its also got a bunch of translation issues, but they are grammatical.
(It seems like BR has gotten the short end of the stick when it comes to tranlastions)
The movie is really good, but is also pretty different from the book. The manga/book follow eachother much more closely than the movie, which is more realistic.

Actually, I do believe it was Tokyopop that released the manga here in the US.
