The question we all want to know: Does it have enough Godzilla in it?
I can't wait to see this in theaters, but i have no clue if it will be playing in Michigan at all, despite my best internet searches. |

I hope it gets to a lot of screens in the US. I hate driving too far for one movie. My last Funi movie was the first part of AoT and I walked out of that one after the sub snafu. And after this review, I want to see this anymore. A long drive to a theater in Chicago or too far in the suburbs would keep me from seeing it.

Thanks; i'd tried this link before and it hadn't worked. Seems to have worked this time, tho; looks like it will be playing basically right next door to me. I'm suddenly realizing how masochistic i am when it comes to Godzilla films; it could have literally any problem imaginable and i'd still go see it. The script is 90% sweaty old Japanese people in board rooms? Sign me up! Godzilla and the monsters appear for literally 2 minutes of screentime? Tickets bought for every screening! Unnecessary B-plot action sequences are blatant ripoffs of famous American films? Sounds great! The plot has obtuse and undere-written spiritual themes only accessible to native Japanese? You had me at 'obtuse'! What i'm saying is i really like Godzilla films.... Even the bad ones |

I feel the 90's Gamera trilogy did all this stuff way better than most Godzilla films. I was hoping this one would've been a return to the campy Godzilla,but I'll still give it a shot. |

I want to see it, but I have my doubts considering Anno was a part of this. That's the guy responsible for one of the most stupid, and utterly pretentious shows I've ever seen that I hate with a passion. I don't want his silly dribble tainting my Godzilla experience too much.
Also, I don't get why so many fans have a problem with Godzilla 2014. It was still very much a Godzilla movie that did do things this franchise has always been known for. Not to mention when Godzilla was on screen fighting, it was the kaiju fights of dreams. If I can describe it as something, it would be a roller coaster. You wait in line for quite some time to have a few minutes of hectic fun, and it's worth it. I want the sequel to that as well as more Japanese Godzilla films because I wanna see Ghidorah, my favorite monster, in a massive fight with Godzilla with a blockbuster budget. |

Godzilla 2014 had the problem ALL Godzilla films have; not enough Bryan Cranston. @Themaster20000 yes those Gamera films were amazing! The suit for Legion in the second film is incredible. |

It had the exact problem that Mike mentioned in the review: Not nearly enough Godzilla onscreen. (Plus they killed off the interesting character for the sake of him stepping aside for his unbelievably boring son.) I mean... I liked the movie, but it was a looong movie that was far too stingy with its main attraction. Every time Godzilla was onscreen, though, and particularly when he fought the Muto at the end, it was delicious eye candy. |

I'm really no expert on japan constitution, but doesn't it clearly say that japan can defend itself (the whole SD in SDF), how is this a problem? (or is Godzilla in international water at that point?) |

It's because they can't guarantee they won't harm innocent civilians in the attack. Sure it can defend itself, but does an sdf whose entire purpose is to defend the citizens have the ability to decide what acceptable "collateral damage" is? |

The whole "tributary state" and "finally doing what they want to do" line is a pretty loaded phrase, considering that in most polls (like a recent one by Pew ) Japan taking a more active role in defense polls better in the US than in Japan, garnering a near majority in the former and only about a quarter positive opinion in the latter. (Economic policy is responsible for the LDP's victories as much as anything.)
Taking a more active role in defense would be Japan finally doing what the American people want and what Japanese politicians, but not the Japanese people, want. |

That would be one massive problem if that was the case, the SDF can only act if there directly attack BUT not if there attack on japans soil since that could hurt civilian... I'm guessing the movie position is against re writing the constitution, but if it could be interpreted that the SDF can't act on japan soil well that would be the best argument for rewriting it.
