I have been waiting for this day forever! Now it's so close I can taste it, and I'm absolutely dying to see who is cast as each character! This is a rough list I made a while back. I don't have a specific voice in my mind for each character but I chose VAs that could possibly change up their voice to play the characters. So don't think of the generic characters you think of when you see these names, think about their range and what they could do.
------------------------------------
Tamaki:
Vic Mignogna (first choice)
Johnny Bosch
Eric Vale
Kyoya:
Eric Vale
John Burgemeier
Troy Baker
Justin Cook
Chris Ayres
Jason Liebrecht
(out of all of them, one of them should be able to play a deep calculating voice )
Mori:
Kent Williams
Chris Sabat (I have a feeling he'll be picked...I hope not though unless he can sound "deep" and not sound "deep and raspy" like Vegeta. He's one of the best VAs ever so I'm sure he could but I don't know if they'd go with my vision of Mori)
John Gremillion (?? maybe...not sure...probably not)
Mike McFarland (??)
Haruhi:
Kira Vincent-Davis (if I remember what she sounds like...lol)
Laura Bailey (second choice)
Parisa Fakhri
Kelli Cousins (first choice)
Kari Walgren (she's amazing, period)
Kaoru:
Braden Hunt (the only voice I could match close enough)
Eric Vale (if he is Yuki-ish but not Yuki)
Hikaru:
Justin Cook
Jerry Jewell (if he can take that "Kyo" quality out of his voice that I love so much but don't think would suit Hikaru^^)
Chris Patton (hmm, hmm...)
Hunny:
Luci Christian (second choice)
Blake Shepard (I only say him because I know he's very talented at re-inventing his voice and he plays little boys)
Kimberly Grant (first choice)
Wendee Lee (she could possibly pull it off!)

You have to consider that since this is a Funimation dub, it'll use mainly Texas-based VAs -- it's less likely that LA or Canada-based VAs like Wendee Lee, JYB, Kari Wahlgren, or Chris Sabat will be in it.

Chris Sabat is in practically everything FUNI does. I can't actually think of a show he's not even except for Beck and that's only on DVD 3 . I'd say where the VAs are aren't going to matter as much if we're talking about Sabat.

Oops, my mistake, for some reason I thought Sabat was with Ocean.

You might be thinking of Scott McNeil or Richard Cox. Scott McNeil's Piccalo does sound a bit like Sabat in some spots.

Other way around. Sabat was an nth rate knock-off Piccolo, and he probably sounded like McNeil, though never in my ears.
I vote Sabat to play half of Ouran's cast, just like he did for DBZ...

I don't really know (or care) who will do what... but considering he's at the peak of popularity right now and beloved by the female fans making up most of Ouran's base... Vic Mignogna will play someone... it's all but a guarantee.

I think that he will do quite well as Tamaki. Vic is able to "over-the-top" rather well. Witness his performance as Edward Elric. I actually think I'd be disappointed if he WASN'T Tamaki.
As for the other characters...well, I'm not really sure who I would want.

I REALLY don't want Vic as Tamaki. I just don't think he's right for it. He may surprise me, but I don't want that to happen D<.
...I know there's virtually no hope of this, but I REALLY want Liam O'Brien as Tamaki, and my second choice would be Jack Lingo.
For Haruhi, I really don't know. Maybe Georgette Reilly? Yuu Inagawa from Comic Party sans-accent might be a good sound for Haruhi. Colleen Clinkenbeard might be good, too.
I want Michelle Ruff as Renge, even though I doubt that's possible.
Outside of that, I just plain don't have a clue. I haven't been watching anything besides Kyo Kara Maoh in SO long...

Rumor has it he's gunning for Tamaki, and I think he might do a good job if he gets him. I'm assuming he'll be done with Fai in Tsubasa by the time Ouran dubbing begins and that won't be an issue?

I really liked Vic as Junpei in the Persona III RPG that many admit that he even surpassed his JP counterpart, but him as Tamaki...I don't know. I don't think I ever heard a VA that even sounds as Tamaki does.
As for Haruhi, I'm still voting for Laura Bailey and For Renge, I think Tiffany Grant will do a good job if she used the tone and pitch she used when she played Asuka in Eva.
I'm looking forward to seeing the cast list that FUNi will settle on.

See, that's the thing. The original seiyuu did a phenomenal, unique job voicing Tamaki. Whoever records Tamaki in the dub shouldn't try to mimic the Japanese version, I think. They should bring their own version of Tamaki to the table. That probably means that Tamaki in the dub will sound pretty different from Tamaki in the sub, but that's OK. There's more than one way to perform as a character, I'm sure whoever is cast in the dub will do a great job.
That said, I would like to see Vic be Tamaki. He was great as Femio in Princess Tutu, and Femio is like Tamaki's crazy younger cousin, so I think he'd be a good choice. I can see why people would be worried, though, particularly since most people associate him with Ed in FMA.
As for who else I'd like in the dub...well, I'm not really sure, although I think Greg Ayres would be a good choice for Kaoru. He could be either one of the twins, really, but I think he'd do a good job at portraying Kaoru's calmer side.

Not necessarily. Crispin Freeman works in LA, and Funimation is based in Dallas. I don't think he'd be in the dub.

Fort Worth. While they both are part of The Metroplex, they're still two different cities. But since Fort Worth itself is right next door, it's understandable why a lot of people keep thinking Dallas .

You completely took the words right out of my mouth. *applauds* I just don't think Tamaki's voice will translate well over to English with how deep it is in Japan. I don't know whether anyone else has noticed, but a lot of Japanese voices are different tones of deep and several guys are played by women (Goku from DBZ being one of the most prominent examples). Which is fine, it works in the Japanese, but a woman playing Goku in English would not have worked and I don't think a deep voice in English would work for Tamaki.
Liam O' Brien? My problem with that is he sounds a little too...crazy to place Tamaki and even when he takes that out (most of his characters just happen to be nuts) of his voice, he doesn't have enough energy in his voice to me.
Though we all have our opinions and I'm glad many people replied to the message^_^ I have to say I was completely against Vic doing the voice until I thought about it. And I just really think it's the closest voice I can match, cause I don't think Tamaki's voice should be deep, it should be upbeat and happy and light-hearted liked Vic's.
