Check out the survey (Quiz) before reading the answers:

animenewsnetwork.com/survey/664/

1 - Anime News Network was founded in 1998,

2 - by Justin Sevakis;

3 - he was 18.

4 - Christopher Macdonald (That's me!) is CEO & Publisher.

5 - The following people have been editor in chief (in order)
Justin Sevakis 1998-1999
Isaac Alexander 1999-2000
George Phillips & Christopher Macdonald (co-editors-in-chief) 2000~2007
Christopher Macdonald 2007-2013

5b - There is no editor-in-chief now. The duty has been split between Zac Bertschy (executive editor), Egan Loo (senior editor Newsroom) and Christopher Macdonald (Publisher).

6 - Zac Bertschy was the first Answerman. Other people to maintain the column (not including brief guests) are Rebecca Bundy, Brian Hanson and Justin Sevakis.

7 - ANN is domiciled in Canada

8 - ANN has between 10 and 20 full time staff.
(It's exactly 10 full time right now, but it's been up to 12 in the past, and we expect it to grow to 13 by the end of 2016) Here's the staff list animenewsnetwork.com/staff - but a number of people on that list are part-time, and the editors-at-large are all freelance. The question was badly written, as two categories had "10" as a possible answer.

9 - Egan Loo is in charge of the Newsroom.

10 - Daniel DeLorme created the Encyclopedia. It was launched in June 2002.

I honestly did not know any of that but now I do mind you I've only been a regular visitor to the site and forum contributor for a couple years after a couple years out of Anime. So I didn't even hazard a guess on most except the Answerman question (I guessed Brian because he was the first person I remember writing the column) and I even got that wrong.

I only got two right, it was unexpectedly hard! I didn't know so many people had been Answerman and I missed the founding date by two years. Which makes me wonder what will ANN do for its upcoming (in about a year and a half) 20th anniversary Smile

Wow! I had no idea Justin was the one who created ANN! Now I feel kind of embarrassed that I've been reading so many of the FOUNDER's posts without knowing this whole time Anime hyper

I only got the first 4 questions right. I did some math for number 3 because I remember hearing from Justin that he was hired by Central Park Media in the early 00's, when he had just finished or was still in college.

Well I only got three complely right Sad which was Zac as the first Answerman, the amount of full-time staff (which I guessed) and year ANN was founded only because I see it every time I go to the bottom if an article (even so, I almost ended up going for 2002 for some reason)

Man, I've been here for too long. Only one I got wrong was 5 because I confused editor-in-chief and executive editor so I add Zac, but I got the other four guys right.

Otherwise I crushed it.

I got two right, and only one of them I actually knew (that Justin Sevakis founded the site). The other one was just an educated guess (10-20 full time staff).

When Rebecca Bundy maintained the column, was it Answerwoman?

I got 3 wrong, about the CEO, who made the encyclopedia and who is in charge of the newsroom. I came here first in 2000 (my graduation year of high school) . So I kinda new the people doing the columns and other stuff I hardly post stuff, but I'm always reading the news and columns. Joined around 2002 I think.. I HOPE IT KEEPS ON GROWING.

I've frequented the encyclopedia for years, long before I got into the forums. Didn't realize it was a thing but got in when the Dub vs Sub wars were hot.

Been collecting anime since the 80's, the encyclopedia was a god send. Before it was whatever you could find in a magazine, order in the back of single comics or convention flyers.

So many convention flyers.

I'll write a book someday about my life growing up in the industry. ANN has been king in my go to.
