I looked into it and NISA won't distribute Atlus games anymore and not the other way around. I would think since Sega bought Atlus they wouldn't need another publisher to release their games. Sega should be able to publish and release Atlus games themselves considering they do own them.

There goes my hopes we'd actually see shin megami tensei apocalypse release here. Honestly I've never got why Atlus don't just set up a pal region branch to begin with, it's pretty obvious there's a market in the pal region as a whole for their bigger series.

I suppose the sega thing might see them bring their games over, but I somehow doubt it. Sega doesn't exactly have the greatest track record for niche games. Guess besides Persona this is essentially the end of Atlus ip's in the pal region, a shame.

Of course if Nintendo didn't insist on region locking their systems none of this would even be an issue. In an era of free global trade Nintendo's handling of regional consoles is absolutely appalling.

with SEGA's track record of Niche titles being released in the UK and EU we probably wont get it at all

Regardless of price tho, NISA was my hope for ANZ because they provided us with physical copies of the game. Unlike Aksys for example, they only digitalise for Europe/ANZ in which I absolutely despise for the Vita releases.

The ironic thing about this: Nintendo never thought about region-locking their consoles during the eras preceding the WiiU and 3DS. So yes, quite a regressive move on their part.

Sega is extremely unfriendly to any market besides JP these past decade. The only thing they publish are sonic games most times. It sucks hardcore since I want PSO2 out in english and now they got atlus and its effecting them too.

The second line there is a typo, and has been fixed. Should have said "NISA has distributed in Europe" Thanks!

The first part is right--the source says that NIS America games will no longer be distributed by Atlus in America.

Atlus has never liked Europe, even before SEGA brought them.

I'm sorry, this article is confusing me a little. Were Atlus and NISA originally distributing each other's published titles previously, like Atlus was distributing Disgaea and NISA was distributing Persona?

You don't really hear about SEGA's niche games because when they go niche, they go almost invisible, like with Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure.

SEGA also has a really different identity between regions. The Project Diva games are a mostly Japan thing, the Football Manager games are a mostly European thing, and while not a whollyAmerican thing, Sonic is really American-oriented.

I am rather confused by this. I thought Nisa and Atlus sold there own games.... this whole time Atlus has been releasing Nisa's titles in America? so then are we not getting anymore Nisa games in america or are they going to find someone else to sell them?

actually no, this statement is correct. Many times in the past NIS America actually had a deal where Atlus would help with physical releases, especially early on when NISA began.

It's also why the NIS America would be a part of the Atlus booth at E3, even before it was publishing the EU releases.
