Oh nice, Seraph of the End was mentioned.
Why no mention of High Speed, did it not have any visually impressive moments? |

Woot One-Punch Man totally nailed the animation of the fights scenes! Really love the style of the animation!
F/S UBW had some of the most visually stunning animation I saw in an anime series! It puts even some anime movies to shame xD Love em! |

If you mean the Free! movie, it just recently premiered in Japan, so it's likely the writer hasn't seen it. I've also heard from some people that the animation didn't really stand out that much for a movie-budget production (though this being KyoAni, I'm pretty sure it does have some spectacular moments too) |

I hope in the GoPri Precure finale, the animators go all out in the penultimate and final battle like they did in the first episode and in the midseason. They are doing surprisingly great in giving the main characters closure so far which is a HUGE improvement over last season's Precure.

It's nice to see Euph and Shirobako getting some love - far too many of these end of year lists have been dominated by action and shonen series. A lot of brilliant work in other genres has gone unremarked.

I agree that Nishi-Ogikubo and Honda-san's work was the best I've seen in a years, none better this year. Add to that that it was hand drawn and animated (tablet maybe, still counts) in a way that lets you feel the action and it is a remarkable example when everything else today is computer rendered. Also, super great article!

I can't really disagree with anything from this list. 2015 was an amazing year from an animation standpoint.
One moment that I would personally put on this list is the final episode of Your Lie in April. The animation for the musical segment was breathtaking. |

I agree completely with you. It was an spectacular scene. --- I was going to say that the minotaur battle scene in DanMachi was missing (I thought it was amazing), but then I saw it at the bottom of the article. Another nice piece of animation was, I think, Sound! Ep 8, at the end of the episode, when Reina puts her finger on Kumiko's forehead and then goes to the lip, and then that little bounce... That was amazing. Very nice article, and damn you for putting that Shirobako scene. I can't get over it yet. |

ANN: constantly bad mouths scanlators and people who translate anime illegally.
ANN: talks about Go! Princess Precure, which isn't licensed by any company in the US, so they are clearly watching it through illegal means. The hypocrisy of this site never ceases to amaze me. |

Yeah, it's almost like there exists something called freelancers who might not share ANNs stance on things. -_- But, I agree that ANN is stupid and all that most of the time. |

That scene from Shirobako was amazing. It's so subtle and yet so powerful. I can't get over it either! |

You highlighted one of my favorite moments of anime in the year, possible of any anime I've watched. The scene from Shirobako. There are sad things in anime that don't usually affect me, but for some reason when this scene came on, I almost started crying too. Not out of sadness or anything it was out of happiness, and that's never happened, from fiction or anything else. So that part alone has stuck with me, and might be one of the reasons why I adore Shirobako so much.

I thought Haikyuu s2 had a few nice highlights this year. The scene of Hinata running and leaping after a ball in episode 1, the nice and weighty fight in episode 5, and Hideki Takahashi's solo key animated episode 4 stood out in particular.

I got to see the Boruto movie in LA and I can confirm that those cuts in the movie's climax are amazing. There's also a great Naoki Kobayashi fight at the beginning and some sweet cuts in the middle too.
A little sad to see no mention of the last episode of Your Lie in April on here. Not only did it have some awesome animation by Kei Suezawa, but it was also impeccably directed and featured some amazing backgrounds and lighting. Also a shout out to Yutaka Nakamura's amazing fight fight from Conrete Revolutio. Last edited by FierceAlchemist on Wed Dec 16, 2015 1:45 pm; edited 1 time in total |
