40 episodes!? Oh lord, they are editing it down aren't they.
If this is actually happening, boy am i glad they didn't decided to start by ruining Heartcatch Precure.
Glitter Force!? Really!?
Thats the best they could come up with ...

Senseless butchering of anime. Sad to see it still being done in this day and age.

Oh dear. I haven't seen the entirety of Smile, but...40 episodes? Really? I don't see good things happening to this. But I do know Saban is good with English casts for the most part, so I'm not worried about the voice casting.

Precure's a cute show for young girls. I see nothing wrong with it being licensed over here with a name that actually makes sense to english speaking kids.

I love when american butchers anime.
Awful localization, bad dubs, cheesy stuff. I love all of that, but at the same time is a bit sad.

Until we actually get an official confirmation on this, I'm calling fake.

They can release it however they want. These companies still don't know shit about marketing to girls. That Supergirl show will be more successful than it.

So why is there precisely squat from the licensor themselves?

Not only is the episode count reduced from 48 to 40, the running time is reduced from 24 min. to 22 min. too. Unless they cut the OP and ED down to about half a minute each, they'll be cutting into the content of the remaining 40 episodes as well.
Smile Precure's main characters were in second grade, so 13-14 years old. This listing has them as "preteen" girls. Meaning more than just the anime's name will be changed.

they probably can't legally. Or they're gearing up an official public press release when they're ready.
If proof shows up on things Saban's printed and given to brand advertisers (World Screen in this case) then that's enough for now. There's not even a broadcaster yet - Saban just has it in their library.

I want to note that Saban is not entitled to discuss about the shows they license until they're ready to be shown off. This goes with any rights holders, but anime companies tend to be more public with the properties they owned. A long time ago, Saban had announced "Gangnam Girls", which held a similar name, but the fact that it was Pretty Cure was all but confirmed. Months later, it was revealed that the Italian licensors had ran into trouble licensing further seasons of Pretty Cure, as Toei Europe had told them to discuss further series with Saban. A lot of assumed then Gangnam Girls, now Glitter Force after a trademark failure, was to be Pretty Cure.
Heck, back in July, I got a direct confirmation that Saban had Pretty Cure. The only issue was the fact that it wasn't 100% confirmed to be Glitter Force at the time, but given the series summary and now the display image, it's pretty much confirmed now.
As to why Saban doesn't want to share information? Simple. They probably wanted to wait until they're ready to announce it, probably because they were making deals for several years now, in hopes that a network would bite and help them promote this series. Given we're now getting some information, with Saban now including it in series they are marketing, I would suspect we should hear more information at upcoming events, such as MIPCOM, which I believe is next month and Saban Brands will be showing off stuff there.

I guess their failure at making Digimon relevant again is the cause of the delay.

I'm ecstatic to hear that Smile Precure is coming back to the U.S.!
...
Second thought, upon reading that Saban plans on bringing back the old name "Glitter Force" to re-brand it as an action show, I know all too well that they'll be bringing back the Americanization, the mediocre in-house opening & ending songs, and some serious plot holes, since there's only going to be five-sixths of the show present.
Really disheartening to see that kids' shows like Precure continue to get the xenophobic shaft.
Edit: Alright, 2600 posts.

Ugh, man. I've been wanting to get into Pretty Cure for years, and I've hoped that it would be licensed.
But by Saban? Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Saban - but skipping/merging episodes? That sounds like 4Kids One Piece, or the recent LBX dub!
IMO, skipping episodes is literally the biggest sin a Saturday morning dub can do. I won't be watching.
