Actually I haven't listened to much of his music. I do have a few songs from him, but I'm not obsessed with him.
Although I have to admit, he IS a funny guy. I love seeing him on variety shows. Man, he makes me laugh.

Er, I think that's Hyde you're talking about. I can only think of one song that Gackt has that's got any sort of Christian religious theme and that's not really about Jesus if I remember correctly.
Also, Gackt is a master of keeping a straight face while saying really ridiculous things I love how he makes fun of himself...

I don't really like Gackt's solo works. I much prefer his stuff with Malice Mizer. Also his new endeavor with S.K.I.N. looks like the kind of thing I despise.

Oh yeah, you're right about that, my mistake. He's still had some "intersting" things that he's done though.

Gackt is just amazing, one of the best Male vocalist and artists in Japan i beleive. Redemption is a great song, yeah its cool that you found it, but one of my classical favorites is his song Lust for Blood
I hope he makes more songs in the future

Can someone explain to me why the visual kei groups (Nightmare, Alice Nine, Gackt, Miyavi) look like girls in most of their photos? I just don't understand the appeal of lots of make-up, piercings everywhere, and the whole "girl" look.
I've listened to some of the visual kei music (Love Nightmare-World, maybe because I love Death Note...), and though I've never liked screaming in songs, the rest of them were ok.

In some recent development with Gackt, he did star in the samurai drama Furin Kazan. In that he played Uesugi Kenshin.

I like Gackt. He's a great singer (although in my opinion he's not as great as Hyde). I love his song Vanilla.
...and he's a really beautiful guy.

Aw Gackt. My first J-popstar I ever imported an album for. It was a blind purchase, although lucky me- I got it for free since Borders couldn't get it in the the time limit.
Anyway, I think it was his Vanillia single. I then went on to purchase the Seventh night.
I also bought Moon Child, because I like Hyde and Gackt together. We won't go into the slash fics I picked up about them, but for a short time I was obessed. And then Gackt was in Final Fantasy 7 Dirge of Cerberus. It was freaking awesome.
*cough* I'm not obessed. If I was he'd cover my walls.
I just like his music a lot.

I have three celebrity crushes, one of whom is Gackt. I got into his works about two years ago. I simply tried out some of his songs and instantly fell in love with Rain. I never had a favorite song in my life, and I knew within 24 hours of hearing it that it was my favorite.
I haven't heard much with Malice Mizer. I just have to remember to search for some.
Also, I too bought Moonchild. Horrible film, but the gunfights were fun and we all know the real reason why we bought it.

Yep, Moonchild was pretty cheesy. I actually fell asleep during that one.
As for Gackt-fronted Malice Mizer, "Merveilles" is one of my favorite discs, period. It is one of the few that I can listen to from beginning to end without skipping any songs....

Ah, Gackt...sexy voice, sexy face, great music...ah yes, he's awesome.
My friend and I love his song Vanilla. I know that sometime this summer we'll probably drive around town doing something random and have that song blaring out of her speakers. Especially knowing the translation...it'll be so much fun.

Gackt was the second Japanese artist I ever heard. "Ares" was the first song of his I was exposed to, and I absolutely loved it - I was utterly shocked at the beauty of his voice. After that, I made it my mission to listen to every song of his I could get my grubby little hands on. After a while, I actually learnt more about this "Gackt person" and discovered the joy of Malice Mizer. Then a new obsession was born.

QFT.
And Moon Child was pretty lame (but I still have it on DVD).
