Ok, Running with fighterholic's idea (and one I had been thinking about myself) here the new and improved ANN Manga section Introductions thread. I'll start the ball rolling and provide a format. I'm going to use the format of the Anime sections new intro thread but make the information more manga/book related. That way there's a little bit of a contrast to the other Intro thread. I'll make my own post after that with my info.

So hopefully a mod will come around and we will be able to get this going. So here I go on my part. When Did You Start Reading Manga/Books: Being an only child I started reading at a very early age. I think I started reading around the age of 5. I discovered manga when my friend introduced me to them. That was around 12 or 13. Since then I've gotten quite a collection of manga and books. I re-read much of my collection. Worst Manga/Book You've Read: I'd have to go with Midnight Panther. Jgreen mentioned it in another thread and I checked it out to see if it was that bad. Yes it was, dear God yes it was. Calling them exotic dancers Jgreen gives other exotic dancers a bad name. No plot at all and the fanservice just was pointless. Pointless to the degree of "just turn it off" comes to mind. Pet Peeves: Jesus this would be a long list if I went through them all. Here are the worst; People who mess up my damn bathroom and kitchen. It's called flushing you jerkoffs, learn how to do it!!! (recent issue with lazy/drunk girlfriend of a friend of mine no less), people who cut you off and can't use turn signals when driving, ignorance and racism of any kind, animal and child abuse, watered down liquor (seriously, I'm paying you freaking 8 bucks for that Scotch and you wanna water it down? hell no), and people who complain but do nothing to fix the problem. If you don't intend to take steps to try and fix the problem then stfu and don't complain to begin with. Other Hobbies: I collect historic weapons (swords, axes, daggers, maces etc.) and I don't collect but I like looking up info on guns. A few of my favorite are FN P90, FN Five-seveN, M-4 Carbine, MP7A, Glock 19C, Glock 22, M203, Beretta 90 & 96, SIG P226/P229 & SG 550, Jackhammer Mk3A1, Mossberg 500 Tactical, Benelli M3 Super 90, and Tac Ops Tango 51. I own 2, guess which ones lol. I love/collect and wear nothing but Hawaiian shirts in Summer and Spring, figures and statues ranging from anime to dragons and in between, watching movies, cooking (my passion in life), playing games with my friends and gf, and being outside in nature (swimming outside, picnic, hiking, fishing, walking in wood, pretty much anything). I actually just bought an $8.39 piece of French Brie from Whole Foods today. Let it warm up to room temp and then spread it on a baguette to go with dinner. Damn that was good. I also bought a piece of Danish Havarti and Spanish Mahon there today as well. I'm a cheap bastard when it comes to most things but not my food or alcohol. If I'm going to ingest something into my body I want it not to be bottom of the barrel crap. b]NGE111[/b] you really should come visit the area I live then. The freaking county cops here are f'ing a'holes. They go minimum 10 over the speed limit and fly in and out of lanes constantly and the turn signals must be optional in their car models because they sure as hell never use them. This isn't just my ramblings. They're so hard up for recruits due to expansions and more building in Anne Arundel county that they'll pass anyone through the academy. Even cadets who show anger problems and fail their psych exam. This is truth and I know it because my dad was a cop and one of the many cop friends we have is an instructor at the academy and wrote a 5 page single spaced letter to the head of the academy about why Cadet A should not graduate. Failing his psych exam was one reason, formally belonging to a neo nazi group was another. He's a corporal now. |

I will admit, psycho, that these cops are in a league of their own compared to what I've seen in Northern Virginia. This only relates to police cruisers, though; what you've described is just a normal trip with whoever else is on the round around here. Lost two rear bumpers from tailgaters, in addition to nearly being nipped in crosswalks several times. Just waiting for the day when I can move out to a slightly less-crowded area*. And before I forgot, two moves movie to throw onto the list: Sin City, Kill Bill (though the second half had its weak points...) *Fairax County's motto: "Now working on cramming in two million people." |

Salvatore, Tamora Pierce, Jane Austen, Sherwood Smith, Robin McKinley, Patricia C. Wrede, Patricia A. McKillip, Garth Nix, Shanna Swendson... I could keep going for a while. What can I say; I like to read a lot. Favorite Bookstore/Website To Buy From: Barnes & Noble or Borders get about equal business from me. I'll also shop at Amazon, SFBC, and TRSI (on occasion; I use them mostly for anime) Favorite Place to Read: I'll read pretty much anywhere, but I generally like to curl up on a couch or in some comfy chair. When Did You Start Reading Manga/Books: I started reading when I was six or seven, but I got into manga when I was about eighteen. Worst Manga/Book You've Read: On the manga front, I was incredibly disappointed with Girl Got Game. On the book front...hard to say. Other Hobbies: Writing, art, knitting, counted cross-stitch, walking, cooking, web-design, working puzzles, and sleeping.
