GO RIGHTSTUF!

Saw the first four eps of Emma at a con a few years ago and LOVED it. That is definitely one I'll be picking up!

Lost Universe sounds interesting knowing the dark one I am sure they'll be a special that I won't be able to pass up. Don't know about Victorian Romance Emma, perhaps I'll rent the first volume and see.

Hmm...interesting, was wondering when (or if) Emma was going to be licensed. I'm curious as to how much Right Stuf is willing to attempt to emulate the nuances of Victorian english, but given their track record the localization should be at least decent.

This probably doesn't say much about my manliness, but this acquisition is definately the best news I've heard out of AX so far this year. Will definately be picking both seasons as they come out.

Lost universe thin-pak For The Win!

I found tapes 1 and 2 for $3 each. And I couldn't find any more. But now I can just pick it up. And it will fit on my shelf. ^^

I am sad to hear that there will be no english dub for Emma which I feel to be an outstanding series and truly deserves a dub. I am glad to see Emma stateside but will probably not purchase this series becuase of the lack of an English dub. It is a shame really because this was a highly anticipated series for me. I wish that one of the bigger companies like ADV or Funimation had gotten this series at least we would have gotten a dub.

Now, wait a minute. Nobody said there wasn't going to be an English dub? Where did you hear this? Surely, not on ANN...

Wait, so does ADV no longer have the license to Lost Universe or something?

OMG! Shocked It's finally come true. SWEET.
But I didn't expect it to be acquired by RightStuf. Totally unexpected.

Where and what source did you read this information from?

If it's true that there won't be a English dub for the series, it's still worth the purchase in my books. This is my 2nd fav next to "OT".

The article didn't specifically note that ADV had lost the license nor did it say that TRSI has acquired the license for it. Maybe TRSI is releasing Thin-pack with ADV, something like how BV has Geneon to release there shows.

Chris himself. Man, this is going to feel a bit weird considering Emma takes place in England and there's no English dub. Anime catgrin + sweatdrop

Well, I did see this on AoD after my previous post:
Quote:
They have picked up the rights to the series Lost Universe, previously released by ADV Films whose license ha since expired.

Sucks that there's no English dub, but considering how niche the series I'm happy we're even getting a domestic release at all. Comparing the price of both season sets ($37.49 US if ordered directly from Right Stuf) to other recent sub-only releases, both seasons aren't looking too shabby. I just hope now we'll have a decent amount of liner notes explaining some of the aspects of British culture of the time.

edit: minor grammar stuff

Ahh thank you for the clarification on that Zalis, I am glad to hear that the third is going to be getting an artbox, and I really like how TRSI is approaching VRE, that exactly what I think would work with Monster. And I believe it's the same in Japan where there were 12 episodes box set (Special edition and regular) you save by not adding a dub but I like how they gave a little extra incentive to those who are big fans of VRE by adding a special to their dvds.

OH MY GOD

*spazzflail!*

I can't believe Emma was licensed! Am in utter shock. Very Happy

Just FYI for the men who might be interested but 'afraid' to watch this show, it's a seinen series, and meant for the older male market, so you absolutely have no reason to be trepidatious, or fear for your masculinity. Wink

Guhhhhh I'm so happy! One of my all-time favourite series is getting the respect it deserves by being licensed, and by a good company too. Hurrah! Very Happy
