Magimoji Rurumo (TV)

Genres: comedy, magic

Plot Summary: Shibaki is a high-school boy whose only interest is girls. Except he's been branded as the most hentai boy at school and the girls avoid him like the plague. One day he finds a book in the library about how to summon witches. He tries it as a joke, but it turns out to be the real thing. An apprentice witch named Rurumo appears to grant him a wish. Shibaki helps Rurumo and she in return refuses to take his soul. (This part of this story happened before the start of chapter1) When the story starts, Shibaki wishes he could see Rurumo again. His wishes is granted immediately as Rurumo falls from the sky and crash lands in front of him.

He finds out that as punishment for not taking his soul she's been busted down to an apprentice demon. Now, she must complete the task of getting Shibaki to use up 666 magic tickets that grant wishes before she can become a witch again. However, what she doesn't know is that each time he uses a ticket it shortens his life. When the last ticket is used up, Shibaki will die. Shibaki knows this because Rurumo's familiar black cat Chiro tell him as part of the "contract" for giving him the tickets. Now, Shibaki has a choice, make a wish and help Rurumo become a witch again or resist the temptation and try to save his own life. (from MAL)

Episode 1:

Well, that was kinda funny. Some of the magic felt a bit awkward though but I think it's just part of the gimmick. I'm not a fan of this Shibaki guy though. He seems too hot-blooded. On another note, the animation is okayish but nothing to write home about.

Rurumo on the other hand is unusual. She has powers and comes with that pointy hat of hers. Overall a decent set up for the show but I'm not sure where it will go. Hopefully, it'll be something memorable.

Ep 1 -

I hate the art but the show is ok enough. I laughed a few times and Ruru is kind of cute. Not a big of the male lead though. Actually, pretty much what Stark said, yeah.

Looks like we're jumping right into the fanservice next ep. Let's see how that goes.

Episode 1

I am not too big on the art either for a J.C. Staff anime. And I am not that into the lead character either, I find it hard to sympathise with characters like that, although so far he is not quite as bad as Issei or the guy from Can't Play H, there was a nice glimmer so far in him choosing to help them keep their pride than to go through with it. More of that would be good, some more respect for characters beyond service.

So far loli witch is the saving grace as I told myself I would watch this as soon as I saw a preview with her in it.

Cute show. MC is kind of annoying to me, but that has to be set against Soft-spoken Witch. Personally, I don't really consider her a loli myself, but I guess there is no scientifically accurate definition of a loli.

I have a kind of gauge for lolis. It's like to me loli is a blanket term for several character designs, which are all varying degrees of loli. Individual art style plays a huge factor too, as some artists just make their characters look young and waif-ish. Also if they have notable hips or tits, that plays a big role in their loliness.

Watched this on a whim as I was on Crunchyroll and waiting to pick up a friend from work. It was very meh, I didn't hate it but it didn't make me laugh - though panty shots and pervy guy comedy has never been my thing. I didn't waste 23 minutes but I doubt I'll carry on watching.

I liked this first episode.

While I can understand the criticism that the protagonist is a bit hard to sympathize with; his blaming of his lack of success with girls on things that were completely his own fault spoiler[like flipping skirts and lending porn and you question why you have a bad reputation and girls shy away from you?] reeeaally don't help.

Despite that I want to believe that deep down he actually is a good person and will somehow redeem himself; I mean he did spoiler[have a change of heart when he found out the bra was important to the girl], so maybe he has good heart surrounded by a thick layer of perversion.

I am willing to give it a few more episodes to see where it goes, but unless he starts doing something to make me care about him I am not going to care if spoiler[he will die when all his tickets get used up], and I will have dropped the series by then anyway.

Pretty cute but with so many must-watch shows this season, I'm not sure if I'll be able to continue with it.

Seriously, spoiler[Shibaki's mom has some issues. The way she STARES many times in the latest episode was creepy. Her eyes looked like Illumi from Hunter x Hunter. ]

Regarding those tickets though, I wonder if there are any limits to them. The latest magic used was involving spoiler[memory alternation] so....

Iève seen temporary yanmama (usually like a female version of shotgun dad) but never permanent. I quite like this change.

Episode 4

Found it really hard to sympathise with him in this episode, and despite everything was making me feel really uninterested in it from all the pervy stuff. But there was a glimmer in the episode, I think it was Inoue, I could actually sympathise with her character, I thought more that she was doing the right thing. Although I know it is super unlikely, but I think she would be the perfect heroine to play off of him, she stands against the parts of him, he apparently thinks past her insecurities in her looks, and she apparently knows him quite well. In my opinion it would be genius, Rurumo is a bit too cliché, and her actual makes it hard for me to see her as just some young girl who needs a hand, yet Inoue is so not a cliché and really the focus on a girl who is not a sparkling beauty seems like a much more inventive idea.

If it was up to me I would change the focus, have it so the guys find that they really don't need that stuff, that "looking cute" is not the be all and end all of a girl's worth. Don't feel required to have the heroine be some naïve cutie, why not the girl that wants to make sure there is respect. Still there is no way this anime would be that brave, especially with all the cute or moe girls to come. Likely too into itself for showing panties or boobs, even if it has taken some means to show an inkling of respect.

Honestly the perverted stuff is completely harmless as long as the guys keep it to them selves. So I hardly think that anyone has the right to destroy the stuff except the owner. Course as a guy maybe I just see things differently lol.
