Kasuga is acting normal in the middle chapters? Compared to what, Oyasumi Punpun? His father's shown to have turned into an unemployed alcoholic who apparently sleeps at the kotatsu, his mom's an emotional wreck and his "normalcy" is nothing but an act he's putting on to protect himself from the world. Kasuga's phoniness combined with the ugly, decayed depiction of Tokyo is damned creepy. I don't know how anyone can get, "boring everyday life" out of those chapters.

Haha, the instant i read your post i knew who wrote the review.
i like to interpret Carlo Santos' reviews as some kind of "opposite day" scenario.

Just finished reading it and I agree the beginning was a cold slap to the face and as soon as it started it ended. It threw me off seeing Kasuga with longer hair and I thought for a sec it was a totally different character. Suffice it to say, the underlining dread is still there for me. I just never know if he's going to go full tilt bonkers at the drop of a hat, and that's where all the fun of this series is for me.
