I'm surprised you like that song. It has kind of a catchy beat, but I find it incredibly annoying! It's frustrating that some Japanese bands seem to think they need to speak in English to appeal to Americans. Even if they don't think that it is still generally annoying because they pronounce things strangely and sometimes use pretty random words. Not that Japanese learning English is bad--I just wish they would really learn the language before they try to sing it.

Engrish is one of the high points of Japanese music, though. They're not necessarily trying to appeal to Americans; English is a fad of sorts. It's like American bands using French (or sometimes even Japanese) in their songs. 'Sides, it's just so fun x) -reminded of the one part of Good! in which the main cast of FMA proudly announces what sounds like "we can't sing!"-

Anyway, I second the Home Made Kazoku recommendation. My mom (who has similar tastes to yours; she's a fan of L'arc and AKFG) recently bought the album, and she said there's not a song on it she doesn't like. It's all really catchy, upbeat and fun music, and the English is quite understandable.

Okay I know a band that is pretty good, but their name is kinda dorky. Okay very dorky but what ever, Its' Asian Kung-fu generation. The songs I like of theirs are: Rewrite& Haruka Kanata. Also Home made Kazoku has good music. The song from them I like are Thank you!!, & Shounen heart. Hope I was some help this time. Lol.

Yes! I agree with all of that. Those are good groups and good songs. I second the recommendation! If you haven't heard them, I would also recommend all the Eureka 7 songs. I think the show is lucky to have such an amazing set of great songs.

For orchestral, soundtrack stuff I would recommend Samurai X: Remeniscence and Samurai X: Reflection soundtracks. They're good, especially when you know the context.

For the person before this post. I listed Rewrite as well as Shounen Heart. I'd agree with you Asian Kung-Fu Generation and Home Made Kazoku thus far has really good music. As for Hit in the USA, it's not the best song listed but its one that is on my good side in terms of what I've heard. Thanks for the additional recommendations. Smile

Yeah, I realized that "Shounen Heart", "Thank You" and the song for the second Naruto series are all upbeat and have a good mixture of English vocals, it's suttle, understandable and actually make the song that much better. Unfortunately those are the only 3 songs I know of them and I've yet to find a store where I could buy soundtracks and such.

Try http://www.cdjapan.co.jp. Since it's import it's a bit expensive, but it's worth it.

Thanks unfortunately I haven't gotten through to my parents with buying over online. Personally I'm a bit weary however it's quite limiting, there are some places I'm confident in but they aren't. So I'm not sure if that site will be useful as it could be at least at this point.

On a Sidenote:

"Sanctuary" & "Realize" by Nami Tamaki are great songs. Very Happy
So far everything from Nami Tamaki I've heard has been good.

No one has mentioned this yet so..

I just started watching Paradise Kiss today. I am not sure if you would like it as much as I do but I really think the music is great. I think the opening is "Lonely in Gorgeous" by Tommy February and the ending is, surprisingly, Franz Ferdinand's "Do you want to".

For some reason the music in this anime reminded me of BECK, one of the reasons may be the wall graffiti in the opening sequence that I spotted . It's also in BECK's ending sequence.

Thanks I'll check it out. Franz Ferdinand... it's rare to see Englsh musicians, bands etc. doing anime themes. The only I know other than this (which I wasn't aware of before) was Afro Samurai which had RZA I believe from the Wu-Tang Clan.

I agree that is a good site. I have ordered from there many times. I have recently just been ordering from yesasia.com. I like that site better because you get free shipping. They also have a top 100 music list that might help with recommendations.

I just heard all of the openings and endings for Gundam Seed & Seed Destiny. And out of the 16 songs I like about 8-10 of them. Those include the songs by Nami Tamaki, "Moment" by Vivian or Kazuma, and for some reason T.M. Revolution has grown on me - his songs are in my head now especially "Vestige", I already loved "Pride" by High and Mighty Color, as well as the 3 endings for Gundam Seed and I think that's all of the ones I liked.

Another thing you can do on cd.japan.co.jp is listen to snippets of a lot of songs. If an album or single has that option available, there is a little speaker icon next to it. I think you get to listen to almost a minute.

Well, I'd reccomend listening to Shine from the opening of Seirei no Moribito - it's by L'Arc~En~Ciel, so you seem to like it a lot, and I love the song. ^^ I like the translated lyrics for it, too... can't wait until the soundtrack fully comes out to that anime.

I also quite like Wind by Naruto. For one thing, you can actually understand the lyrics, it's not some silly man's Engrish. I often find myself humming or singing it softly when I'm working with my earphones on.

If you don't mind more etheral sounding stuff--really pretty stuff, I'd check out Mizu no Madoromi from the Fantastic Children anime (By Origa). It's a very enchanting and beautiful song that I'd listen to over and over. In the same respect, Rise by Origa, from the Ghost in the Shell (Well, one of the seasons) is very awesome as well.

You might do well to try some of the vocals in Kino no Tabi, they're nice and pleasant.

As for pure orchestral soundtracks, Blood+ immediately comes to mind. You're guaranteed for a treat in those soundtracks, considering they were produced by Hans Zimmer (lots of fame there) and Mark Mancina. Mushishi also has some wonderfully ambient tracks. ^^'

Oh ya "Little Busters" is a must get too (FLCL) I just jump around and scream that song when I'm alone~! xD
oh ya songs in Initial D are good too like the ones by "move" such as "Dogfight" and "Noizy Tribe"

An update to what I've found new love for Razz

L'Arc~en~Ciel

"Driver's High"
"Fourth Avenue Cafe"
"Vivid Colors"

UVERworld

"Just Melody"

Unfortunately "Hit in the USA" by Beat Crushers has fallen off my radar in a way amd I "New World" by L'Arc~en~Ciel had me for awhile but right now it's decent to me.

The good news is I've warmed up to "Driver's High" and "Fourth Avenue Cafe".

I'd like to listen to "Shine" as well. Thanks for the help guys, I'm going to be starting the in-school radio program next week. Very Happy

I plan to offer Rap, Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, Soca, J-Rock and J-Pop in terms of genre flexibility Very Happy
